Chapter 1433: Terrible Defeat (Part 2)

Saleen’s calculative abilities were almost rendered ineffective. He was only able to barely and forcefully dodge the attack from the scepter held by the Lord of Glory’s double, using only his instincts and the tingle from the depths of his soul.

Rafel did not aid Saleen right away. She waited instead until the Lord of Glory’s double launched his lethal strike before las.h.i.+ng out with her Inferno Spear. Unfortunately, there was no light on the tip of the spear anymore. After eons of use, the G.o.dly item had become rusty. Rafel used up all of her divine power before she noticed the weapon’s diminished appearance.

The spear went through the heart of the Lord of Glory’s double with a dredging sound, and he exploded right there and then, transforming into a huge ball of light that then coalesced again. Ashen faced and angry, the double hurled the ball of light in his hand at Rafel.

Wham. Rafel felt as if her body had been petrified. As she flapped her wings, they snapped right off her shoulders. Then the ball of light hit her squarely in the face.

Rafel’s head disappeared; her Inferno Spear dropped to the ground below.

Only then did Saleen realize how terrifying that double was. He only had level-12 powers yet was able to kill off powerful beings around Saleen one by one using rules only.

Saleen suppressed his deep grief. He saw Nicholas’s scepter being flung straight at the double’s head, knowing that Nicholas had run out of tricks to deal with him: No fallen divine spells would work against this enemy.

The blow landed with a loud bang, but the Lord of Glory hardly minded at all. Light seeped out as the back of his head split open and was then absorbed into the Scepter of the Fallen.

That piece of equipment had been left behind by the three kings. Surprisingly, it was used in a physical manner against the Lord of Glory’s double.

Elated at this small success, Saleen fired seven icicles from his Thunder Dragon Blaster as Armoring Lightning Beads circled him. His territory shrank to the size of the area immediately surrounding his magic robe.

The power of the territory was such that the Lord of Glory’s double couldn’t lock onto him; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to evade that previous. .h.i.t.

The double laughed maniacally. He was severely injured and the cause was a fallen holy master. What an insult! The ball of light in his hand coalesced again and he flashed, evading Saleen’s lightning icicles.

Saleen was ill-equipped to lock onto the Lord of Glory’s double. The grief and anger inside were unbearable. He wanted to save Nicholas until he saw the Blood Soul Tower inside his scepter burst open violently. There was a bit of power of divine fire inside.

As yellow light flashed under Saleen’s feet, he jumped several hundred meters to the side. It was a speed made possible after he consumed bone crystals of the giant. He had been reluctant to use them this way before, but the situation definitely warranted it now.

Saleen had to run, or the Lord of Glory would have slaughtered everyone without mercy. There was a huge number of troops within his magic amplifier; there were other followers and he still had his children to think about as well.

Saleen’s felt immense regret and his eyes filled with tears. How can I regret anything? I’m a mage, for goodness’ sake!

Two pieces of equipment were taken away as the Winged Skull’s body dropped to the ground, which felt as if it had melted and steeped into the soil. Saleen was consoled by the Winged Skull’s last words spoken from the depths of its soul—”Master if you end up dead, I swear I’ll kill this G.o.d and destroy his divine kingdom!”

Regardless, the Winged Skull knew it had to run and Saleen found that comforting. That was because the chance of even running away when fighting such a powerful G.o.d’s double was infinitely slim to begin with.

The Lord of Glory’s double no longer paid any attention to Nicholas after seeing Saleen run off. As he waved his scepter, formless power spread out. Nicholas felt like an ant being squished by a hammer. The muscles all over his body were crushed to a pulp by that formless power.

Meanwhile, the ball of light in the double’s hand flashed as he aimed straight at Saleen. With each flash of the ball, he advanced two to three hundred meters. Saleen, on the other hand, was only able to move 500 meters with each step he took.

Nicholas dropped to the ground and his scepter was let loose. The explosion from the Blood Soul Tower lasted only a few seconds before being snuffed out by the Lord of Glory’s light. By then, the scepter was little more than a stick, and the bit of divine fire on it was inadequate to inflict any harm on the double.

Nicholas’s face was unrecognizable by then. Blood was spilling out from everywhere. Even so, he gritted his teeth and shouted, “Lord of Glory, I curse you. Your divine kingdom shall be destroyed. Your divine fire shall be taken to the purgatory, and you shall become a slave to the fallen angels!”

This lesser prophecy spell of his had no rules to speak of. It was activated by burning his own life force, and he just blurted out whatever came to mind.

Enraged, the Lord of Glory’s double hurled an arrow of light. Suddenly, a magic pattern appeared on Nicholas’s Scepter of the Fallen. His body collapsed to the side after the magic pattern appeared, with the scepter taking the hit instead of the arrow.

The Lord of Glory didn’t bother attacking after that. He just a.s.sumed that the puny fallen holy master had perished, too weak to defend himself.

Killing the mage is what mattered most to the double at the moment.

After all, that mage had insulted him by making him endure four hours of attacks. If he hadn’t sustained those attacks, he would not have had to bring two important G.o.dly items with him. Moreover, he would have been able to kill every single one of those people after the advent. Then he would have rebuilt the Holy See and unified the entire plane.

That was a great chance like no other, and yet that b*st*ard ruined everything.

The Lord of Glory’s double was adamant about getting Saleen killed. The ball of light in his hand continued to flicker, and the frequency of activating divine spells was slightly higher than Saleen’s with magic. Even though Saleen moved farther away, the Lord of Glory gradually caught up with him. The distance between the two of them was only about three kilometers.

The G.o.ds hardly considered that a distance. There was, however, a paper-thin layer of lightning territory covering Saleen. It had been compressed to the extreme. Every time the Lord of Glory’s double wanted to target Saleen, he felt as if he had been shocked in the head, which prevented him from focusing.

If that was the case, the double still wouldn’t have had to chase Saleen all over the place like that. Nicholas’s final lesser prophecy spell was without a doubt too weak to doom the Lord of Glory. The reason was that this was a curse from despair and was as crude as could be. But then again, such prophecy spells were where the essence of such divine arts lie.

Nicholas’s hatred knew no bounds: that lesser prophecy spell was actually working.

The Lord of Glory’s double felt as if his main body had been attacked and was on the verge of death. Countless combat angels rushed in and were destroying his divine kingdom.

Even the fallen angels in h.e.l.l came up to join in the destruction. Those familiar faces had once been his most trusted ones.

The G.o.d’s wrath made him lose all sense of reason. That double of the Lord of Glory was dazed and unfocused to the point where he could not calculate the trajectory of Saleen’s movement.

Saleen was not running away in a straight line. Yellow light gushed continuously from his feet and he kept twisting and turning in midair. The Lord of Glory’s double was slowly closing in on him.

But then again, he knew the mage couldn’t move any faster. So long as he kept moving, he would have been able to close in on him.

If the Lord of Glory hadn’t been so h.e.l.l-bent on killing Saleen, he would have headed straight to the Holy See to learn more about the mage from the believers in that plane. Saleen had ma.s.sive forces serving him and there was no way he could have brought them all with him.

If he destroyed those forces one by one, Saleen would have been immensely pained, to put it mildly.

While the double was pursuing Saleen like a lunatic, Saleen managed to regain his composure and figure out what to do next.

Other than the heroes at the Imperial City of the Abyss, no one else on Myers Mainland in its current state was strong enough to take on the Lord of Glory’s double. The reason he did not run in a straight line was due to concerns about the double’s ability to keep up.

Saleen kept taking out bone crystals of the giant. Those things contained power purer than magic nuclei and provided only powers of the earth. Earth element around him was of such a thickness that Saleen was able to reach the peak of his flight speed in the air—over 800 kilometers an hour.

Even so, the Lord of Glory’s double continued closing in on him. The silver hair of the Lord of Glory’s double billowed.

Both pursuer and pursued ran for about two hours before the Lord of Glory lifted his scepter, intending to attack Saleen. The distance between them both was around 100 meters.

Even if the Lord of Glory was powerless to lock onto Saleen at such a distance, a large-scale divine spell would have engulfed Saleen regardless.

Saleen gritted his teeth and cast Comet Flash. He was able to streak over three kilometers away within the blink of an eye. The Lord of Glory was so p.i.s.sed he roared behind Saleen, who took the chance on summoning Dante.

“Dante, how fast can you fly?”

“Not as fast as you, master!” Dante was very scared, as the one coming from behind was a double of a true G.o.d. That G.o.d might not have bothered with the others, but if he caught up with Saleen, that G.o.d would have definitely devoured Dante, who was a pseudo G.o.d.

“I’ll teach you the method right now. Learn it now!” Saleen used the power of the soul and sent the skill using the earth element into Dante’s head.

It was much faster for Dante to learn this skill than Saleen, so much so that as soon as it finished reading the information, it was already capable of casting the skill. The Lightning Constellation had the bone crystal of the giant as its core, which meant that earth element was also one that Dante was most skilled in using.

Dante took Saleen in its arms and began running away under Saleen’s instruction. His body was incredibly frail after casting Comet Flash, requiring some time to recover. That was because his Comet Flash had exceeded the limits of a skill, the speed at which it moved was hardly different from that of Rainbow.

The Lord of Glory’s double was exasperated, adjusting his direction and continuing to pursue Dante. Dante, in turn, was unable to move as fast as Saleen initially. As such, the Lord of Glory caught up him within an hour. Saleen still hadn’t completely recovered just yet, but he was still able to use Comet Flash again.

The double saw very clearly that every time the mage used that skill, it drained all of his stamina.

I have to catch up and kill him. That’s the only way to get back at him for the insult I suffered!

Dante and Saleen took turns moving and before they knew it, they were at the edge of the mainland—the sky above the northern seas.
