Chapter 1411 - Pursuit

Chapter 1411: Pursuit (Part 2)

That weapon spirit of the Baldur’s Gate wanted to absorb the magic nuclei stored within the magic amplifier as soon as it leapt inside. The weapon spirit of the magic amplifier was enraged right away.

While everything stored within the magic amplifier belonged to Saleen, but the weapon spirit of the magic amplifier was nonetheless the caretaker of the place, and it treated all the things stored within like its own property.

It was incredibly rude for that weapon spirit to just barge in uninvited, and it truly went overboard trying to take magic nuclei stored within. The weapon spirit of the magic amplifier was unable to sit well with that.

The weapon spirit of the magic amplifier went up and grabbed onto the weapon spirit of the Baldur’s Gate.

The weapon spirit was first shocked, and then lashed out angrily, “Let go of me, you puny pseudoG.o.d!”

“d.a.m.n you!” The weapon spirit of the magic amplifier kicked the other weapon spirit right away, sending it flying into another s.p.a.ce in the magic cube. That s.p.a.ce was storing ores and there was no worry about breaking anything.

The weapon spirit of the magic amplifier lashed out without restraint, beating the weapon spirit of the Baldur’s Gate to a pulp.

“I’m Juno, the great weapon spirit of level 16. If you dare to continue beating me, I’ll…”

Boom!

The weapon spirit of the magic amplifier expanded its body right away, lifting it foot and having it looming all over the other weapon spirit, before stomping down on it and pressed hard for a bit, saying, “I’m a level 13 weapon spirit and master has yet to give me a name.”

“You…cough…don’t even have a name…”

That weapon spirit of the magic amplifier continued to stomp on the other weapon spirit called Juno, until the other party learned what kind of situation it had gotten itself into. The nameless weapon spirit would not have bothered to show any respect to Juno simply because it used to be powerful.

Wait, this fellow already has divine fire. Huh? There are G.o.ds serving my new master?

Juno had seen a lot during his time but it had never known of any G.o.d being enslaved by humans. The fact made it s.p.a.ce out, so much so that it stopped cursing at the nameless weapon spirit, which in turn, enable it to suffer less beating.

The weapon spirit of the magic amplifier dared not beat Juno to death, as the other weapon spirit was a bonded creature of its master after all.

Saleen was oblivious of the fighting in the magic amplifier. After being reminded by Juno, he turned his attention to the leader of the Elemental Hand—the mage wearing a purple robe.

That mage was unable to help but shudder when he caught Saleen’s attention. It had been something that had never happened after advancing to level seven.

Three of the nine attacked Saleen as soon all nine of them emerged, with the remaining six choosing to leave.

Rafel, the Winged Skull and Nailisi took on the attacks of those three mage trainers. Truman, Isabella and the others retaliated. The other two mage trainers at Safilos’ side attacked those three mages as well.

Yellow light flashed beneath Saleen’s feet and he caught up to the purple-robed mage in an instant.

The purple-robed mage was unable to react in time. Saleen was a mage, and he would have been able to attack from over 1000 meters away without problems. Mages who charged to their enemies’ side to attack was something unheard of to the purple-robed mage.

Saleen’s Eye of Lightning and Crystal Finger skills both had range of attack at about ten meters.

The reason why Saleen used such a skill to get near the purple-robed mage was to be able to put his territory to good use. That level 11 mage would have definitely developed his own territory as well.

The power of the lightning territory had been thinned somewhat, enabling it to truly give Saleen an instant edge when compressed to within 100 meters.

That purple-robed mage cast a Fire Ring of Resistance in reflex, which was the best measure to deal with warriors. It was quick to cast and would not have been nullified by many skills. It also had powerful retaliatory abilities.

Saleen, however, was a mage. He cast Endless Night against the Fire Ring of Resistance from that purple-robed mage, restraining the purple-robed mage. Saleen then recalled the Armoring Lightning Beads and sent ball lightning, which was geared for combat, into the Fire Ring of Resistance.

Saleen was only able to cast eight ball lightning within a day and his casting of that skill was still not fast enough. He did not need to use lightning skills against low level professionals, yet the speed of the skill was rather insufficient for taking on high level professionals.

That was why Saleen first cast Endless Night for control. It was totally unexpected that the purple-robed mage was able to instant fly out from the Endless Night and distance himself over 100 meters away.

Saleen cast his Water Flame again. Hundreds of thousands of snowflakes danced around them and it was used in conjunction with Tornado, in an attempt to trap the purple-robed mage.

The purple-robed mage was unable to tell direction right after escaping Endless Night. He distanced himself from Saleen on reflex, which was why he had been able to escape at uncanny speeds.

He had the other five G.o.dly items with him and he would have been able to kill Saleen at any given moment, as long as he was able to advance.

He would not have been in such a messed up state if they were in Alchemy City. The magic amplifier was not inside the Baldur’s Gate and his power had been considerably diminished. He was still in the stage of getting used to fighting in his current state.

That was especially so when he was in the Endless Night. A black and a white ball lightning appeared and sent s.h.i.+vers down the spine of that purple-robed mage. That was a natural reaction from facing a life and death situation.

The ball lightning were unable to travel quickly and they had flighty trajectory. However, there were hardly any equipment capable of resisting their power so long as they were able to connect to their target.

The purple-robed initially tried to lure Saleen with the way it ran. If Saleen were to come at him, he would have wanted to kill the other mage and take the Floating City. However, when the two ball lightning of different colors got close, the purple-robed mage had to run in earnest.

There was no way Saleen would have simply let him escape. That other mage still had five other G.o.dly items with him after all.

Saleen had acquired the Book of Gaia. If he were to gain complete mastery of that G.o.dly item, its offensive and defensive capabilities would have rivaled that of the Thunder Dragon Blaster.

The Thunder Dragon Blaster was able to attack only a single target, yet the Book of Gaia was able to attack over 10000 targets at the same time.

Over 30000 of the elite troops of the Qin Empire died as soon as the Book of Gaia was used for the first time in ages.

That was the true power of G.o.dly items, something capable of reducing people to dust with just a single breath.

If Saleen were to gain mastery over the Book of Gaia and reach level 15 and above, any who would have entered the Baldur’s Gate would have been forced to rely on their own powers to take on Saleen, as overwhelming him by sheer numbers alone was no longer possible.

There were few G.o.dly items like the Book of Gaia, capable of attacking over a very large area. If he were to advance to level 15 and above, the Book of Gaia would have been able to make the entire Baldur’s Gate come alive.

All who would have entered the Baldur’s Gate would have been caught within the Book of Gaia’s range of attack, making evasion impossible.

Saleen fired a lightning icicle right away. Both of them were level 11 mages, which made it difficult for Saleen to lock onto the purple-robed mage within an instant difficult, despite having access to powers of the soul, especially when they were both moving at great speeds.

The purple-robed mage smirked coldly. He had gotten familiar with that skill of Saleen, which was so formidable that it was near-invincible within level 13. But then again, what good would it do, if you were to face someone of your own level like me, and you can’t lock onto me?

Saleen’s lightning icicle shot out and he then look around the purple-robed mage. A square, independent s.p.a.ce appeared. That s.p.a.ce was constructed using wind element and was of pale blue color. The wind element within that s.p.a.ce raged and carved a large hole where the purple-robed mage was.

That mage flew outside the hole that manifested, and Saleen saw his lightning icicle disappeared after the other mage was gone. When the lightning icicle appeared again, the purple-robed mage was already several hundreds of meters away.

That burst of wind element allowed the purple-robed mage to move away in an instant.

Glimmer?

It was the first time Saleen saw such a movement ability made possible by using wind element. While his teacher was of even higher level and had began to pick up Rainbow, instead of learning a wind type ability like Glimmer.

If Jason were to learn Rainbow, it would have still proven useful even after advancing to level 16.

The very reason why Glimmer was not as renowned as Rainbow was due precisely because it was easy to learn.

Rainbow had extremely high const.i.tutional requirements of the user. If a mage were to slack in tempering their bodies while training in the art, even people who had lifespan over hundreds of thousands of years and beyond level 13, would have found it difficult to cast that spell.

Forcing oneself to use Rainbow would have resulted in a harrowing scenario where one’s body gets disintegrated by the elements of the spell.

However, things were different with Glimmer. The wind type magic was easily made available to any mage adept at using wind magic. The only problem was that the spell came with a high cost, yet was unable to move the user very far away.

In general, Glimmer’s sudden movement ability was restricted to about three to five meters away. The advantage of that spell was that it allowed the user to ignore some powerful attacks when it was being cast.

But then again, when one emerged out of Glimmer three to five meters, one would have still been possibly caught with the opponent’s range of attack. Such movement ability paled in comparison to Jalin’s earth type magic.

That was a spell that required precise control and one would have required to put in a lot of effort after picking it up, before one was able to use it effectively in battle.

That purple-robed mage was only able to get over a 100 meters away using Glimmer. He then flew out for another 300 meters or so using Glimmer for the second time, shaking off Saleen’s lightning icicle attack at the same time.

Such skills were considered powerful magic. It was not something judged by level, but by the control ability of the user and how well they know the spell.

The purple-robed mage managed to escape the two lethal attacks that Saleen launched, by getting the timing correctly. It was some control ability that Saleen was hoping to achieve.

That mage was said to be the leader of the Elemental Hand, who had firm control of Alchemy City. There was no way one could have easily killed someone like that.

People like that had gotten to where they were through their own hard work. It would have been disappointing if Saleen were easily able to kill someone like that.

As mages of the same level, Saleen was using the purple-robed mage to hone his own arts. If he were to simply use the power of the Signet of Silence and the Crystal Finger at the same time, the purple-robed would not have been able to survive otherwise.

However, no one around him knew of the abilities of the Signet of Silence. Without a.s.surance of being able to prevent word from leaking, Saleen had no intention of using the Signet of Silence. That mystical ability of the item was a secret weapon he intended to use against G.o.ds in the future.

He had to shut everyone up and prevent any word from leaking if he were to use that item.

Yellow light continued to flash beneath Saleen’s feet, sending him behind the purple-robed mage. Both mages were less than ten meters away from each other by then.

Saleen would have only needed to cast Crystal Finger to end that mage, something that the other mage could have only survived if he were to have something like the Figure of Fate as well.

Saleen’s Crystal Finger was capable of harming not just the body, but the soul as well.
