35 Rain Of Thunders

'Boom!'

'Rumble!'

'Zzz!'

Not far from Long Cheng, a powerful thunder struck down from the sky and hit the nearest tree. The tree was ma.s.sive and tall, but it immediately fell after that one thunderbolt.

Lou Mary eyes bulging with terror after she saw what happened!

"Your Highness! Be careful!" She screamed to Long Cheng in warning, before running towards him to offer rescue. Because the tree was going to fall directly on him.

"Get away from me!" Long Cheng hissed and jumped sideways on time before the tree completely fell on the spot he had been standing seconds before. It had almost hit him, if not for his fast reflexes which helped him on time.

The tree was still burning on the ground, but due to the heavy rain, accompanied by thunder, it did not take long for the flames to vanish completely, not even leaving the smoke of the burn.

Long Cheng glared at the sky that had caused the tree to almost crush him. He was already drenched to his feet but wasn't feeling any cold. Still, it was annoying that he kept getting wet.

'Rumble!'

'Zzz!'

Another ma.s.sive thunderbolt was sent his way. This time it did not hit any tree, but it was close enough for him to feel the drizzle of electricity that was still present in the air after the thunder disappeared.

"What the h.e.l.l?!" Long Cheng yelled in anger when the sky directly above him started to darken further. The clouds condensed in one place, which gave him the feeling of a terrible omen.

Even Lou Mary was getting nervous. The hair on the back of her nape rose. Her desire to run was strong, but she stubbornly refused to do so, because she couldn't leave Long Cheng.

"We need to get away from here!" Long Cheng exclaimed when the dark clouds showed electrical discharge yet again like it was preparing to send a mighty thunder.

Lou Mary was not going to move unless Long Cheng did. So, she remained standing on the same spot, waiting for him to run in whatever direction he wanted, so she could follow.

Ignoring the female s.h.i.+fter, Long Cheng raised his guard, allowing his red scales to appear over his skin. Then, he scanned the place with his heightened senses. He needed to make sure that his mate was not around before he left.

He could take the thunder, but Long Cheng wouldn't bear if any of the ma.s.sive thunder hit his mate, who was already injured.

Long Cheng needed to make sure that Lu Meili was not around, as his instincts were telling him, that the dark cloud was going to cause a lot of damage. The Thunder Forest always seemed to take pleasure in making living creatures or beings suffer its wrath.

'Boom!'

'Rumbbleee!'

Before he could finish scanning, loud thunders rained down on them.

With that, Lou Mary used the opportunity to get closer to Long Cheng, to force him to protect her.

Before Lou Mary could get closer to Long Cheng, he jumped back, to avoid any lightning from hitting him.

When he saw her moving towards him again, Long Cheng scowled in utter annoyance. "Are you stupid?! Why are you trying to get closer? The storm is pointed in that exact place!" He exclaimed, displeased.

"Ah!" Lou Mary hissed when out of nowhere, lighting hit her on the back, almost throwing her, on the ground. The pain was inevitable.

It was not life-threatening, as she was able to withstand the hit. If not for the dragon s.h.i.+fter genes and if she hadn't pa.s.sed the test for the special unit, Lou Mary would have died from that lightning bolt which now, burned her back.

However, more lightning bolts were coming her way. Lou Mary couldn't defend herself or withstand all of them if she did not move quickly. Watching her in annoyance, Long Cheng was also thinking the same thing.

Long Cheng and Lou Mary were both so distracted, taking care of themselves that, they both missed when, an almost invisible female silhouette, pa.s.sed a burning tree mistakenly, where the smoke would have exposed her.

The silhouette immediately moved towards the nearest tree and jumped to the branches. Long Cheng also missed it, because he was too focused on not getting hurt.

"Arg!" Lou Mary screamed in agony and surprise when she got hit again in her side, by a part of the tree that had fallen earlier, throwing her far away, hitting yet another tree trunk and falling on the ground.
