87 Dangers Of The Elven Forest: A Wild Beast 2

"Hmm these are dangerous zones. I never would have thought, I'd venture here."

The White Tiger–Pheonix beast was one of the five mystical beasts, other beasts in the food chain dared not challenge it one on one. Some of them were not too afraid of the white tiger-pheonix beast, but those were the ones that sometimes moved or fought in pack.

So given the opportunity, they would attack. At the same moment Jareth thought they were lucky, a deep howl was heard.

Instantly everyone's eyes shot open. Jareth got up quickly, as did Astrid. White-fire quickly warned Astrid. "Get everyone to climb on, we must hurry."

"What beast is that?" Astrid asked.

"You do not want to wait to find out." White-Fire replied back. "Besides, I am not fully healed yet. I can't face a pack of them in this state."

"Move out!" Jareth yelled at them.

Astrid quickly picked her cloak, putting it on and wore her bag over her head. She rushed to where White-Fire stood, ready to fly away, picked its cub and climbed unto its back.

Jareth followed after her and did the same. White-Fire didn't waste a moment more and took off.

Howl!

~Human Kingdom – Princess Cyrena's Chambers~

The masked girl entered Cyrena's room through her open window. The moment her feet touched the floor, Cyrena's eyes shot open.

The whole chamber was dark, save a single candle stick burning at one end of the bed chamber. She picked a dagger from underneath her pillow and threw it at the figure.

The masked girl barely dodged in time and the dagger hit the wall instead. "Princess!" Said the masked girl. She quickly knelt on one knee and bowed her head.

"Amelia!"

"Yes princess?"

"What news have you?"

"I couldn't find any written or concrete evidence for you to use your Highness, but I did bring interesting news. I have found the master mind behind the theft, but I cudnt figure out the man he tired to steal the money."

"Hmm... " Cyrena said as she came down from her bed, tying her ropes of her robe and made her way to where Amelia half knelt.

"What exactly did you hear or find out?"

Amelia raised her head and continued her speech, "I infiltrated Mr Brandon's house, and searched his bedroom for any clue, but i couldn't find anything. I was going to do the same with the other ten men, when he suddenly entered into the room."

As she told of what happened, Cyrena walked up to a chair and sat down on it. She lightly yawned, her eyes closing shut in the process. She crossed her legs and continued to listen.

After some minutes, Amelia finished telling her story and kept quiet.

"Hmm, this is a lot interesting. Rise," she commanded.

Amelia obeyed and kept her eyes down. She couldn't tell what the princess was thinking, or how she was going to get a solid evidence that she can use against Mr Brandon, lest she made a jest of herself.

"Princess, what are you going to do?"

"I need more, Amelia. I need more, something to tie Brandon down with the culprit. He ordered the theft all along, such a greed man."

"True, because, not until you can link him with a solid evidence, it would just be your word against Prince Owen's evidence."

Cyrena got up from her seat and paced around in the dark room. Her right hand held her chin, while the other supported her elbow.

"Besides there is the case of the other man, who committed the theft. Apparently, he did that out of a good course, he stole and returned the money to Mr Greg."

"Yes," Amelia concurred. "Unfortunately, luck wasn't on his side that day and his good made the situation worst."

"Hmm, hadn't Owen gone that day, he would have returned every penny and ended this problem."

"But we don't know his ident.i.ty. He left and Mr Brandon was still in the room, so I couldn't chase after him. By the time I left the room, there was no sign of him anywhere. He sure looked skilled, and the aura he emitted... Cold and emotionless, those were what his eyes portrayed."

She furrowed her brows the more, "I think I might have a lead as to who he is."

"You do?" Instantly, her eyes shut up as her gaze were fixated on Cyrena.

"Yes, and I think there is one more lead," Cyrena said. "We need to find their signed contract," she said after a pause.

"You do not have much time your Highness. It would be better if we can find the thief and make him give us the contract," Amelia suggested. One could sense the worry laced in her voice.

"Worry not Amelia, this is what we would do."
