When the dungeon guard was finally done Examining our stats we were let through. I had to say I was rather surprised by the abilities Alex possess were rather over powered. Her stats were on the low side, at least when compared to mine, but she would have no problem keeping up with me.

Alex likewise looked at my stats and abilities. She had originally thought she would be carrying me, but her eyes went wide as she looked over my various talents and blessings. She even blushed a little when she read the definition of my [Insatiable] racial trait.

Finally the cyclops seemed satisfied and let us past the gate. Inside was a couple of stalls, and after that a large stone gate. Inside the Gate was a watery substance.

"I'm so excited. I've always wanted to enter the dungeon. This particular dungeon is famous. It changes depending on who enters. It is always deadly, but pa.s.sable. Guaranteed to be a challenge for those who enter. Every city has one, but ours once produced a legendary item. So at least in this part of the country it has a reputation."

"So raiding dungeons is how people normally level up?"

"Of course! there isn't enough monsters out in the world that are a suitable level for beginners like us. Even the rather tame Velocinid's can easily kill Adventurers below C rank. And their Xp is garbage. It would take a madman to level up that way."

I let out a nervous chuckle. "Yes.. a madman.."

We pa.s.sed up the stalls on the side, they wouldn't be selling anything worthwhile anyways. The reputable shops were always set up in the guild.

The portal to the dungeon was weird, as we pa.s.sed through it I felt like I was in two places at once. Three if you consider the odd feeling that you are traveling through s.p.a.ce a third place. My body seemed to stretch like elastic until it finally snapped back into place.

When my eyes settled we appeared in a dark, dimly lit room. My gear had somehow already been equipped, and I had a pistol in either hand. My cloak clung to my back like a second shadow.

In front of me Alex appeared like the main character of a super hero movie. She stood with her hands on her hips, her legs spread while she looked off into the distance. On her back was a rather large hammer. She was wearing what I a.s.sumed was armor, but it was even more revealing then my own clothes. I was not complaining though, I was enjoying the view.

She drew the maul from her back and started to pace. She seemed to have lost her bearings and was trying desperately to find out where they were.

"This isn't right" she was muttering outloud. "E level dungeons are always filled with weak creatures like rabbits or maybe those failed rabbits from the jungle. How can we be here. This isn't a beginning dungeon."

I quickly grew annoyed with her ramblings and asked her to spit it out.

"We seem to be in a C rated dungeon. One that is meant for actual parties, not E rated newbies like us. There has to be some kind of mistake."

A smile crossed my face as I heard that. "C rank you say? That's perfect. Here I was worrying we wouldn't have any fun."
