22 Setting Off

My only hope now was to make it to that city and seek advice from her. I had now been effected by a total of 3 different G.o.ds. A blessing, a curse, and something in between. I could not help but shake my head. I had a total of 40 skill points to distribute, and if I put them all into agility at this point it would increase my agility by a total of 160 points. That was a ma.s.sive increase. It would bring my agility up to 200 points.

But something told me to hold off and save the points. And that is what I was planning on doing. Perhaps Laurel would have an idea of how I should spend them.

Because of the fact I was in a weakened state I Decided it was best if I traveled in stealth, I did not have the strength at the moment to fight off any of the creatures I had encountered.

As i prepared to go I put the things that I would need into my inventory. This included a 3 jugs of water and the rest of my supplies. I had enough fish for a week, I desperately hoped that was enough.

Laurel had stated in her letter the direction of the small city. and that it was only 2 days away by foot. But traveling in stealth in my state I could not guarantee that this would actually be the case.

I looked back at my home as I left it behind. I knew that I would be back, after all this was now my home. When I returned perhaps I could fill it with the furnis.h.i.+ngs I actually needed. Like a bed and a door to the cave.

The sun was already high in the sky as I took my first steps towards the beginning of my new journey. Each step was painful, as it disturbed the cut on my abdomen. My pace was painfully slow, but I kept a positive att.i.tude.

As hours pa.s.sed the sun set behind me. I found a small clearing to set up camp. I did not start a fire, nor did I exit stealth. I did not dare fall asleep, So instead I began to meditate. That in itself was a form of rest.

This was the first time I had meditated since my core had evolved, and Pain crashed through my body as an intense surge of mana flowed through me. The Surging mana reopened the wound that had yet to properly close, causing blood flow down my body. My head soon became dizzy, the incredible power of my core sapping me off all my stength. At some point I blacked out.

My eyes shot open as I heard the scuttling of feet around me. The familiar sound of Velocinid steps crashed into my mind.

I sat up in a panic as I saw the spiders circling me. Their behavior seemed odd, as if they could not locate their prey even though they knew it was here. When I looked down I saw my body coated in blood, but I somehow was still in my stealth mode. The scent of blood must have attracted them.

I cursed inside my head as I carefully opened my inventory and removed a jug of water. This water was meant for drinking, yet it seems like fate had other plans. I quickly poured the water over me, using a rage to wash off the crusted on blood. The spiders noticed my activity, but had yet to actually see me. I took advantage of this and stored both the rag and Watwr back into my inventory.

At the same time I pulled out a leaf of a Bloodthorn Constrictor. I Squeezed it softly, causing a flow of pollen to enter the air.

My ploy worked as the spiders were quickly entranced by scent, moving forward like zombies. I dropped the leaf and crept away as I inwardly sighed in relief. This could have ended much worse.
