Zhao Yao mumbled as he heard the cat's ear-splitting shrieks, "What's wrong with this silly cat? Why is he making a fuss again?"

However, he remembered that his job was not yet complete. Hence, he raised his hand in the air and began knocking on the door.

"Excuse me, Miss. I think you have forgotten about something."

Inside the apartment, a man pointed his katana at the pale-looking girl who had previously opened the door for Zhao Yao. Beside him stood a mature woman who sported a pixie cut. At her feet laid the Pallas's cat which had been knocked unconscious.

The mature woman's forehead puckered together as she remarked, "What's wrong with that guy? Why is he still here?"

The man who had the katana in his hand asked, "Do you need me to get rid of him?"

The woman gave a dismissive wave of her hand and replied, "Do not kill him. We definitely do not want the Chinese government to be on our tails. We'll just wait it out. I'm sure he'll leave soon."

The pair of man and woman conversed in j.a.panese throughout the entire conversation.

Both of them finally heaved a sigh of relief as the incessant knocking came to an end. Just when they thought that Zhao Yao had left, a deafening blast erupted from the door. Someone was trying to knock the door down with a barrage of kicks.

"a.s.shole! Where is the RMB 5,000 that you promised Dr. Liu?"

Flames of anger shot through the man as he listened to the commotion, "This stupid Chinese man!" He immediately marched towards the door and it seemed like he was about to take action against Zhao Yao.

The mature woman with the pixie cut immediately came forth and stopped him in his tracks, "No, his shouting has already attracted the attention of the residents here. You cannot do anything rash now."

His temple throbbed with rage as he retorted, "Then what are we supposed to do? We can't let him continue making so much noise and attract so much attention!"

The lady with the pixie cut glanced at the pale-looking girl and said, "You will shout from where you are and tell him to wait because you need some time to get the money."

The pale-looking girl did not utter a single word but simply shot a frosty look at the woman with the pixie cut.

The man gently pressed his katana against her neck and said coolly, "Speak."

Left with no options, the girl finally opened her mouth and shouted as instructed, "I know! I'll be getting the money now! Please wait awhile!"

Zhao Yao exclaimed, "Tsk. Why do I always have to resort to violence to get things done? A young woman like you shouldn't have picked up the bad habit of owing others money. I'm telling you that youngsters like you should be out there earning money instead of staying at home and waiting for money to fall from the sky."

The man and woman finally breathed a sigh of relief when Zhao Yao stopped ramming the door.

The woman who sported the pixie cut was Mami Nanami. She shot a cold glare at the girl and said, "Hanako, just give him the RMB 5,000 that he asked for."

The girl who was referred to as Hanako stared at the pair of man and woman and said, "But I don't have so much cash at home."

Mami Nanami immediately c.o.c.ked her head towards the man with the katana and asked, "Shuichi, how much money do you have with you?"

"Huh?" The man who was referred to as Shuichi was flabbergasted by her question and replied, "I do not bring any cash along when I'm out for missions. How about we give him the money over bank transfer?"

Her pulse slammed in her neck as she retorted, "Are you b.l.o.o.d.y stupid? Are you trying to purposely leave behind a trail of evidence by transferring money using our own bank account?"

She was quickly interrupted by the familiar knocking on the door.

Zhao Yao shouted, "Hey, are you done yet? I'm telling you that it's impossible for you to default on this payment. I can stay right here and wait for you until you come out. Your only way out is to give me the money you promised Dr. Liu. Young lady, do you hear me? I'll call the police if you refuse to give me the money."

Anger swelled up in Mami Nanami as she shouted, "What's wrong with this f*cker?" Even though she knew that she was fully capable of taking that guy down, she was furious that she had to put up with all this bulls.h.i.+t so as to attract less attention.

With the thought at the back of her head, she tilted her head towards the pale-looking Hanako and said, "Go and open the door and lure him into the apartment."

Hanako's pupils dilated slightly as she craned her neck towards Mami and shouted, "What are you trying to do!"

Mami's mouth curled into a smile as she sneered, "What do you think? I've already given him a chance. I cannot help it if he wishes to die so badly."

"You should have done this long ago!" The man with the katana cheered as he pressed his katana against Hanako's back. His pair of eyes emanated a vicious aura as he whispered, "Quickly, go now."

Hanako immediately answered, "You cannot do this. The police will discover what you have done. The Chinese police are extremely efficient. You will not be able to bring me back to j.a.pan if you commit murder here. You guys don't have to kill him, you can just knock him out. An unconscious man will not interfere with your plans."

Hanako sensed the hesitation in Mami's eyes and immediately continued with her persuasion, "How about this, let me go out and talk to him. I'll convince him to leave the place now."

Shuichi stood at the side and responded, "Mami, you cannot trust her. The best solution is to kill the r*tard standing at the door and then keep his corpse in the fridge. We would already be back in j.a.pan by the time they discover his body."

Mami shook her head and said, "Hanako, do not try anything funny. We will not hesitate to kill you if we fail to bring you back to j.a.pan."

As she spoke, she raised her index finger skywards and a tiny flame burned at the tip of it.

Cold sweat beaded her forehead when Hanako witnessed this incredible sight. She thought, "Is this the power of the devil? How did Mami receive this power?"

Evidently, Hanako was the Pallas's cat's owner. Previously, the Pallas's cat did not reveal his superpower or intelligence to her. Hence, she was clueless about the world of supercats and superpower. This was why she regarded Mami's ability as the power belonging to the devil.

Hanako nodded her head and agreed.

Meanwhile, Zhao Yao grew impatient and started kicking against the door, "Are you done yet? I'll have to knock this door down if you don't come out! Can you at least open the door?" At the same time, his ears started to quiver and a thought flashed across his head, "Why do I keep hearing j.a.panese's voice? Don't tell me that she is watching a j.a.panese adult film which is why she's so embarra.s.sed to open the door?"

The door finally swung open when Zhao Yao was just about to ram it down. The pale-looking girl once again reappeared in Zhao Yao's eyes.
