Chapter 40

If all these requirements are all added together, Chen Mo basically wants to find someone like this:

Young, and have the potential.

Have more comprehensive ability and be competent for the work as an a.s.sistant.

Must have a basic understanding of the game.

Can not have too much ambition, and can not pose a threat to Chen Mo's future plan.

According to this standard, Chen Mo screened all the resumes sent today.

The result was regrettable.

No one meets the requirements of Chen Mo.

Of course, Chen Mo has long been psychologically prepared for this result. His request was very strict and it was only the first day so he did not need to worry at all.

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Three days later.

At 10 am, the experience shop opened normally, Chen Mo continued to write the design doc.u.ment for the new version of 《Plants vs Zombies》 with his laptop at the front desk.

The several major functions of this time were relatively simple, they are attached to the original framework, and the rules are very clear, so he wrote it smoothly and there wasn't much that he needed to repeatedly consider.

The big framework has almost taken shape and the next work was mainly to refine the doc.u.mentation and production.

During these three days, Chen Mo received many resumes from the candidates and arranged four or five interviews, but he wasn't satisfied with the results and didn't manage to find the a.s.sistants and receptionist that he wanted.

The few people who came to the interview were either too cautious or their intelligence wasn't good enough, they had their own shortcomings and Chen Mo wasn't satisfied with them.

After all, there are still differences between reading resumes and interviewing. There are subtle things that can be reflected by the way you talk, manners, and deeds.

Chen Mo's criterion is that unless he meets someone who is particularly satisfying, else he won't consider anything.

He definitely won't compromise.

"h.e.l.lo, I am here for the interview." A voice said.

Chen Mo looked up and saw a girl outside the door, about twenty-three years old, she had a short hair with bangs and was very cute, with a heartfelt smile on her face, which was very infectious.

"Oh, h.e.l.lo, please come in."

Chen Mo stood up and took out the resume that he had already printed from the side.

Chen Mo took the girl to the conference room and poured a gla.s.s of water.

Su Jinyu, 23 years old, a senior student in art major in a well-known key university in Beijing. During the period of her study, she got various awards and she couldn't even write them all down on her resume.

However, Chen Mo roughly judged that Su Jinyu wasn't that kind of strong backbone of the community like Wen Lingwei, but she was like a model worker. The various rewards on her resume were basically the kind of hard work that others were not willing to do.

In other words, she isn't the kind of speculative student, on the contrary, she is steady and capable.

Up to now, Chen Mo's impression of Su Jinyu wasn't bad.

"I have already read your resume, and understand your basic information. This interview is just a casual chat, so don't be nervous." Chen Mo said.

Su Jinyu nodded, "Ok!"

Chen Mo felt that he was too worried, Su Jinyu wasn't nervous at all, she should have seen this kind of stuff  a lot in school. She might also be born with a strong heart.

"You wrote on your resume that you can do both the receptionist and a.s.sistants, why?" Chen Mo asked.

Su Jinyu said, "Ah, because I feel that if I can't be an a.s.sistant, I can be a receptionist, I should be able to also learn something as the receptionist as well."

This is a very pragmatic answer, Chen Mo can see that Su Jinyu relatively lowered her att.i.tude, probably because she failed to apply for the game designer position.

"Why don't you choose to be an artist as an art major student, but instead choose to be a game designer? I saw that the level of your hand-drawn is high, and can even be a qualified concept artist." Chen Mo asked.

Su Jinyu replied, "Well… on the one hand, because as a game designer, I can use my ability in painting, while on the other hand, I think game designing is a more creative career."

Chen Mo said, "However, you have also tried to develop some independent games but never got the ident.i.ty of a game designer. Didn't you feel that you don't have enough talent?"

Su Jinyu said, "Well, maybe my talent is not high, but I will not give up!"

Chen Mo nodded and continued to ask the next question, "What do you think is the most important quality of a game designer?"

Su Jinyu's brows slightly wrinkled, obviously this was a relatively vague question, so she needed to think about it for a while.

"Well, I think the most important quality of a game designer is to stick to their beliefs." Su Jinyu replied.

Chen Mo said, "Belief?"

Su Jinyu explained, "Ah, don't get me wrong, it's not the belief in the traditional sense. I mean, game designers should always stick to their own hearts and make games that move the players, bringing joy and inspiration to the players."

Chen Mo thought for a moment and asked, "If there is an opportunity now, you can make a game with poor reputation but makes a lot of money, will you do it?"

Su Jinyu has some doubts, "The reputation is bad, what makes it make money?"

Chen Mo said, "It's just a hypothesis."

Su s.h.i.+yu thought for a moment, "Well… I don't know. I can only say that if this game makes me think that it is a bad game, then I won't do it even if I can make more money ."

Chen Mo continued to ask, "What if I want to make such a game?"

Su Jinyu said, "Ah? You are the game designer of 《Plants vs Zombies》, for a game designer who made such a popular game, how can you ignore your reputation for making money?"

Chen Mo said, "To be honest, there is a good chance for me to develop some games that make money but have a bad reputation. If you can't accept this, then we can't cooperate."

Su Jinyu's brows were slightly wrinkled, obviously this choice made her somewhat tangled.

After thinking for a moment, Su Jinyu said, "It should be impossible for me to change your mind. To be honest, I really like 《Plants vs Zombies》, I think the reason you can develop such a game, must be because you are a very talented game designer. I can surely learn a lot by being your a.s.sistant.."

"I am relatively stupid, I wanted to be a game designer myself, but I failed. So I want to start as an a.s.sistant and learn."

"Do you think this would be okay, I can be the receptionist, but you can also make me take on some work of an a.s.sistant and if I encounter a game I don't like, I can choose not to do it."

Su Jinyu's att.i.tude is very sincere, neither giving up her belief nor attempting to influence Chen Mo's philosophy.

If she is an a.s.sistant, then Su Jinyu must completely obey Chen Mo's orders in game designing, even if Chen Mo asks her to do a game she doesn't like, she still must do it. This is the professional discipline as a game designer's a.s.sistants.

Therefore, Su Jinyu wants to be the receptionist and serves as an a.s.sistant. This is quite a compromise approach.

Chen Mo thought about it.

Su Jinyu was so far his most satisfied candidate, the most important thing was that Su Jinyu had a natural love for games, and she was a person full of positive energy, positive att.i.tude and very capable of influencing others, working with her should be very enjoyable.

However, what worried Chen Mo was that Su Jinyu and his ideas did not perfectly fit.

Obviously, Su Jinyu was a person who must "earn money in a righteous way ", while Chen Mo was different.

The game industry was very dangerous, in front of Chen Mo, there were huge monsters such as Emperor Interactive Entertainment and Chan Yi Interactive Entertainment. There were countless successors who were eager to be the only winners in this environment. It was not enough for him to only rely on the few high-quality games of his previous world.

Chen Mo needs a lot of money to develop large-scale high-quality games, so for him, his only goal now is to make more money, and it doesn't matter if he sacrifices some of his reputation temporarily.

This will definitely conflict with Su Jinyu's philosophy.

Chen Mo thought for a while and said, "How about this, before you graduate, you can be the receptionist here and serve as an a.s.sistant, and if you have any dissatisfaction, then you can leave at anytime. If you are willing to stay after you graduate, then we will sign a formal contract, what do you think?"
