7 Chapter 7

"I guess that means you're not angry anymore," said Charles still laughing.

"No. I'm still angry. I just wanted revenge."

Charles looked at me, smirking and chuckled. I turned around and stood up. I looked at him and walked over. He was still laying on the ground. I stomped my foot on his chest and heard him gasp in pain. He bolted upright and held his chest. I could see the print my boot made. I held out my hand and he took it. I helped him up and onto the tree.

"Sorry, I'm just really f.u.c.king p.i.s.sed at you." I said sitting down next to him.

"It's okay. I realized that I did a really s.h.i.+tty thing back there," He said as he adjusted himself.

I looked to the creek and saw a small school of fish swimming near the edge. I stabbed my scythe back into the water and brought it back up with a couple of fish. I set them down on th log and stood up. I walked around, picking up all the sticks and rocks I could find. I laid the rocks down in a circle and piled the sticks inside. I flicked my hand and a small ball of fire appeared. I moved my hand and started the fire. I took two sticks off a nearby tree and stuck a fish on each. I held one out to Charles and he took it. I sat down near the fire and stuck the fish over it. Charles sat on the opposite side and did the same. After about ten minutes the fish were fully cooked. We sat and ate around the fire.

It was getting dark and we had gone back to the clearing. Charles and collected some leaves and built two little cots for us to sleep on. He was careful and put his far from mine. I laid down, staring at the stars.I could hear Charles lay down too and turn to his side. The stars seemed to gleam against the dark sky. I laid there for what seemed hours till my eyes grew heavy and I fell asleep.

I woke up to the forest on fire around us. I sat up quickly and looked around for Charles. He wasn't on his cot. He wasn't anywhere in the clearing. I stood up and called Charles name. I looked up and saw Charles floating there, his head to the sky. I looked at him in confusion and pushed myself off the ground. I flew up in front of Charles to see him oblivious to the chaos beneath us. His eyes were white and glossy. I grabbed his shoulders and shook him. He snapped out of his trance and looked at me, "Wha..." Chalres pa.s.sed out and fell from my grasp. I swooped down and grabbed his hand before he hit the ground. I struggled to fly with his weight but I started flying away from the fire. I couldn't deal with that now, I have to move Charles, I thought. I dropped him on a branch nearby, but away from the fire. I flew to the creek in a rush and used my magic to conjure a large amount of water from the creek on top of the fire. I let it fall and the fire went out immediately. I sighed and went back to Charles. He was still unconscious. I sat down on another branch, tired from the amount of magic I used. I put my back to the tree and stared at Charles.

The sun started to rise hours later. Charles started to move. I sat back up and looked at him. He sat up and looked around in confusion, "Where the h.e.l.l are we?!"
