249 I Believe In You

Mingyue thought about the last time she had told Yang Yun how Li Ran looked somewhat familiar.

When she heard that Li Ran came from another world as they were, Mingyue had thought that perhaps, she had seen him back in Da Cheng. However, she quickly dispelled that thought.

Li Ran had stayed in this world for more than twenty years. How old was Mingyue when Li Ran accidentally come to this world? It would be impossible for her to have met him.

"Mmm… It's not surprising that there were others as well," Yang Yun said. In the past, the Nanlin Tribe themselves would send out their people to explore another world. The elders have been to various places and seen a lot of things."

Mingyue pressed the phone to her ear. Hearing his voice on the other line was making her heart swell, and she started to feel giddy. Mingyue thought that it was strange. It was not as if Yang Yun were whispering sweet words to her. How was it possible that he could make her feel that way even when they were chatting about Li Ran?

"You seem to know a lot about the tribe," Mingyue said.

"You think so?" The corner of his lips curled up. When his wife went missing, Yang Yun had stayed with the tribe to learn more about other dimensions and how to form a portal. He spent more than five years with the Nanlin Tribe. But of course, he was not planning to tell his wife about that anytime soon.

Mingyue frowned as she sensed that Yang Yun did not want to talk more about it.

"Right. Have you spoken to your parents that I'll be coming to visit them tomorrow?" Yang Yun swiftly changed the subject.

"I did speak to my mom," Mingyue said. "And we decided not to say anything to dad until tomorrow."

"Are you worried?"

Mingyue took a deep breath. It would be a lie to say that she was not worried. She looked up to her adoptive parents and hoped that they would think highly of Yang Yun as well.

"Why would I be worried? Since you have convinced my parents and brothers and married me, then it shouldn't be a problem for you to win over my adoptive parents' heart as well, right?" Mingyue teased. "Yang Yun. I believe in you. You can do it!"

Yang Yun chuckled on the other line. "Well, Xue Yi Ming will be coming over as well. He told me that he had something important to tell the Lin's couple as well. He mentioned something about reducing the impact of his news with me around. But, I'm not sure what he meant by that."

"Brother Xue didn't tell you?"

"That guy can be tight-lipped when he wanted to. Forget it. Whatever it is, we'll know by tomorrow."

Jiang Mingyue entered the kitchen and hovered around Mother Lin as the old lady was preparing something in the kitchen.

"If you're not going to help, you might as well wait outside," Mother Lin said and sighed. "You're going to give me a headache when you walk back and forth around me like this."

"Mom, I wanted to help, but you told me that you're almost done, and there was nothing else I can help you with," Mingyue countered.

Mother Lin shook her head. She took a pair of chopsticks, clipped on a piece of meat, and brought it to Mingyue's lips. "Try them. Is it alright? Do I need to put more salt?"

Mingyue chewed on the meat and savored the taste. Then, she gave her mom two thumbs up. "It's good. No need to add more salt."

Mother Lin turned off the gas and put the pot aside.

"Mom, tell me," Mingyue grabbed Mother Lin's shoulder and whispered, "Have you tell dad that Yang Yun will be coming over?"

"I told him," Mother Lin nodded.

"Then? What did he say? How did he respond?"

Mother Lin gave her daughter a sideways glance.

When she mentioned to her husband that their daughter, Mingyue, invited her boyfriend over, General Lin suddenly said that he had an important matter to attend to outside. But once he heard that Xue Yi Ming would be coming over as well, he had no choice but to stay home.

Mother Lin could not help but laugh at her husband's childish act.

"Do you really like this boy?" Mother Lin asked.

Mingyue felt her face heated up at her mother's question. She bit her lips and nodded.

"You silly girl," Mother Lin turned around and bopped her daughter's nose. "Back then, you never showed any interest in another guy. And now you're finally dating someone, and we have to find out when you were hospitalized."

"Mom, I'm sorry," Mingyue pulled Mother Lin into a hug. "Back then, we did not want to rush into things. And I did not know how you were going to react."

Mother Lin can only sigh and smiled helplessly. "Don't worry about your dad. He might act as if he did not care, but he trusted you and your sister's choice. Since this boy is the one you like, your dad and I will not say much. Even if your dad has something against this boy, if he really likes you and treated you well, then I will help to convince your dad."

Mingyue felt her eyes stung. Subconsciously, her arms around Mother Lin's tightened.

The Lin family really treated her well. Mingyue felt her heart heavy at the thought of leaving her adoptive family soon.

She loved the Lin's family and was grateful that they had taken her in when she came into this world with no memories. However, choosing to stay in this world would be impossible, especially as they have found a way to go back to their world.

"That's enough," Mother Lin patted Mingyue's hands, and soon, Mingyue released her grip. "The guests will be arriving soon. Go upstairs and find your sister."
