108 To Find Clues

Grand Tutor Pei bowed his head to the two royalties and walked away to give the two some s.p.a.ce.

Princess Lingchen smiled politely to the Prince of Qian Rong. "Prince Lu Wei, I did not expect to see you here."

"I came to visit the Emperor to thank him for his hospitality," Prince Lu Wei said.

The Princess' gaze stopped at the Prince's stomach area. "How is your injury? Is it getting better?"

"Thanks to the Imperial Physician sent by the Emperor, my injury is getting better," Prince Lu Wei said. "However, the physician advised me to rest until the wound healed completely."

"You are welcome to stay in Da Cheng until your wound healed, Prince Lu Wei," the Princess said.

"Right, I haven't got the chance to thank you for saving my life during the Spring Hunt."

Princess Lingchen gave a faint smile. Spring Hunt would remind her of Mingyue. Her heart pained every time she recalled that Mingyue was no longer around. "It was Physician Jiang who saved your life."

A light flashed through the Prince's gaze as he heard the Physician's name. "You were close to Physician Jiang?"

Princess Lingchen met with the Prince's gaze. Once again, she thought that the Prince's eyes looked somewhat familiar. "I am. Physician Jiang is not only my personal physician, but she is also my cousin and a good friend."

Seeing the Princess' saddened look caused the Prince to lower his gaze.

"Have you heard stories how a person could disappear into thin air, Prince Lu Wei?" the Princess asked.

It took the Prince a few seconds before he nodded. "I have."

The Princess' eyes went wide at the Prince answer. "You have?"

Prince Lu Wei nodded again. "There are many stories of a person disappear into thin air, not just in Da Cheng. There were stories like that in Sui country and other places."

"So it is true that a person could vanish when an eclipse occurred?"

"An eclipse is not the only cause for a person to disappear," Prince Lu Wei said. "There are a few others," he paused for a while and asked, "Do you believe in a supernatural thing, Crown Princess?"

The Princess stared at the man before him a long time before she shook her head. "I don't. Not really."

Prince Lu Wei smiled. "In Sui country, there is a big tree that they considered magical. There are stories of how people disappear whenever they stayed under the tree for a certain period. And sometimes, a strange thing would appear under the tree as well."

"What strange thing?"

"I guess it was something that does not belong to this world, or else, they wouldn't consider those as strange thing," Prince Lu Wei said. "At one time, someone from the Sui Country Imperial family vanished under the tree. The King at that time, instructed his people to destroy the tree."

"How do you know of this story?" Princess Lingchen asked with interest.

Prince Lu Wei lowered his gaze. His lips curved into a small smile. "My mother used to tell me these stories when I was a little boy. In Sui Country, everyone knows of this story. My mother was from Sui Country before she migrated to Qian Rong with her family. Then, she met Qian Rong's Emperor and had me."

The Princess saw the Prince's expression and decided to keep silence for a while. She had heard of how Prince Lu Wei mother died not long after they were taken in into the Qian Rong's palace. Princess Lingchen could guess that Prince Lu Wei must be missing his mother.

"You said that there are many stories of a person disappear," Princess Lingchen said after a while. "Can you tell me the stories? I-I hope to find clues from your stories so that I can find Mingyue again."

Prince Lu Wei turned to study the Crown Princess' expression. He hesitated for a moment before he spoke, "Physician Jiang did not disappear randomly because an eclipse happened at that time. The Physician disappeared because she happens to hold the gra.s.s when the eclipse takes place."
