106 The Story Was Real

"Your Highness," the physician bowed. "The tear on your stomach healed faster than I thought. Physician Jiang has done a great job at st.i.tching your wound. If you continue to rest and have your medicine, there is a chance that the wound will heal earlier."

Prince Lu Wei continued to listen to the physician's advice before he sent the physician away after rewarding him with a few silvers. The Prince lowered his gaze to look at his stomach. He was thankful that he had met with Physician Jiang on the day the tiger attacked him. Or else, he might have died.

The Prince frowned as he recalled of the day the Physician had to disappear before his eyes.

When he was very small, Prince Lu Wei had heard stories of people disappearing during an eclipse from his late concubine mother. However, it was the first time for him to witness it. All these time, Prince Lu Wei had thought that the story was only something that his concubine mother made up.

Who would have thought that the story was real?

Prince Lu Wei held his stomach as he stood up. However, the pain he had expected did not come. The physician sent by Da Cheng's emperor had dressed his wound meticulously. The Prince headed to the table beside his bed. He opened the top drawer and reached deep inside to push a b.u.t.ton.

Soon, there was a faint click.

The surface of the drawer was pushed up, leaving a gap. Prince Lu Wei reached inside and pulled out a box where a silver mask and a small whistle was hidden. He took both the mask and the whistle and hid it inside his sleeve and peeked at the door. Immediately, a servant came beside him.

The Prince sneered inwardly, knowing that his movements were monitored during his stay in the guest house. He had been staying in the guest house for almost a month and observed his surrounding. There are the guards sent by the Emperor everywhere to protect him.

He was not worried that someone from Da Cheng would find out that he has been exchanging letters with his men in Qian Rong. After all, the Emperor did know that he had a conflict with the Crown Prince of Qian Rong. What he was worried about is that the Crown Prince had sent his men to monitor him.

"Your Highness," the servant bowed. "Do you need anything?"

Prince Lu Wei nodded. "The physician said that my wound has almost healed. I was thinking about paying a visit to the Emperor of Da Cheng to thank him for looking after me. Sent word to the palace that I am planning to visit tomorrow," he took out a small bags filled with ingots and handed it to the servant. "This is for you to share with the others."

The servant's eyes were wide with excitement as he saw the silver ingot. Then, he stealthily hid it into his sleeve. "Yes, Your Highness. I will do as instructed."

"I am a little tired and will be taking a nap," Prince Lu Wei said. "Please do not let anyone disturb me until it's dinner time."

"Certainly," the servant bowed and retreated.

Prince Lu Wei waited until the sound of footsteps disappeared before he went into his chamber to change his outfit. Then, he observed his surroundings and waited for the perfect chance to sneak out.

If he had a choice, he would choose not to sneak around. However, he needed to send a few words to his men or else; the others might get worried.

Prince Lu Wei waited behind the wall and saw the servant gathering with a few others as they discussed how to divide the reward.

It was his chance to sneak out.

Meanwhile, in the deep forest near Da Cheng's Western Border, Yang Yun, and his teammates sneaked quietly through the woods and stopped once they heard the sound of water streaming.

Yang Yun turned to his teammates and gestured with his hands. Two of the Elite soldiers nodded and hurriedly climbed on the tree to observe their surrounding.

A few weeks ago, he received a mission from His Majesty for a search and rescue mission. A group of men sent by His Majesty to transport provisions to the western part of Da Cheng which had suffered from the flood last year. After that flood, the officials had a debate, and the Emperor had agreed to construct a dam to control the flood.

Not long ago, the Emperor sent a group of people to sent the supply needed. However, the group was reported as missing. The army stationed at the Western Border sent a letter to the Emperor to request help, and Yang Yun and his team were a.s.signed to help his fellow army brothers.
