[Time is stopped for us to bond to you . The full changes will still take a while but we didn't want any beings interfering with the process . Suddenly, knowledge of META began to flow into his mind . Dozens of spells, a deeper appreciation for mana and the ways to control or influence it, and knowledge for curses and blessings all were stored neatly into Joseph's mind for perusal whenever he could get to it . Joe immediately got busy speed reading .

'Ok,' he agreed, finis.h.i.+ng skimming through the spells and techniques with Joe as time started to flow again outside his consciousness .

TELEPORT .

He landed Chuck in the courtyard inside the castle .

"Joseph, why did you bring us back here?" asked Stella, looking around, confused .

"What's up boy? Aren't we going to the world tree after this?" asked Chuck at the same time .

"I have a few things to do first," he said .

He could feel the runes starting to work on him . He didn't have much time . Teleporting to his room, he left his armor and staff on the bed as Stella jumped through his shadow to get to him .

Before she could say anything, he felt himself being drawn to his nexus . The runes were there with META . Some approached like they were giving a bear hug, others like a guy handshake double-tap hug . Joseph could feel the welcome from all of them, but he was also aware of what was happening to his body . The process was fascinating, so Joe decided to help out with their new knowledge .

Joseph was standing in front of her, having just set his stuff down on the bed, when he slumped forward suddenly . Stella moved to grab him, thinking that he was going into a mage trance, as he had numerous times before, but the moment she touched him, he exploded into tiny mana particles . The windows of his room blew out, scattering bits of gla.s.s all over the courtyard below . The flash from the explosion was enough to render her blind .

She crouched, arms held out to catch him, as the shock of his explosion trickled through her mind . He was gone…

Screaming, she reached out, trying to find him among the debris of the blast, oblivious to the fact she was unaffected other than the blindness . His armor and staff still sat on his bed, but the bed was broken, splinters scattered on the floor . Ignoring the p.r.i.c.ks as she scrambled along the floor, Stella tried to jump to his shadow . It didn't work . Coming to a corner of the room, she pulled out a dagger and curled into a ball . Tears ran down her face as she tried to calm herself . Joe wouldn't let him do anything stupid . The system wouldn't let him die . The G.o.ds were terrified of him, she knew he couldn't be gone .

Reaching for the tattoo on her chest, she finally felt him in her mind, and calmed down . He would be back, she could feel it .

Joseph had to rebuild himself from scratch, just like he did when visiting the runes in each of their worlds . Focusing on each rune, he knew he had to make the ratio each rune represented in his new body, in the correct proportions . It had been over an hour since his old, flawed body had exploded into mana energy, and Stella remained in her corner, rocking back and forth . She ignored everyone who came to investigate, only glancing in their direction, when the healers fixed her damaged eyes .

With META actively helping him redesign his mana circuits from the ground up, the effects were amazing . Every cell in his body was slowly reconstructed with runes inscribed in each one . He didn't bother remaking veins and arteries, instead mana channels flowed throughout his body, replacing their function . Each cell was inscribed with NECROMANCY and HEALING, preventing death, and healing any injuries virtually instantaneously . WEATHER, WATER, FIRE, and EARTH protect him from any amount of heat or cold, lightning, and acid and strengthen not only his skin but every part of him . MOVEMENT forced his mana to circulate hundreds of times faster than his blood ever had before .

Joseph's newly made staff was disintegrated and incorporated into his new bones after replacing the divinity that remained in it with a purer runic power . The rune's power wasn't divinity, but something more primal, though no less powerful . And as their only champion, he was blessed with an abundance of it .

'Now I won't have to scheme and plot to fight NURKONG,' he grinned .

"I still am of course, I am the cardinal example of planning, and being able to kill someone bigger than me, so I refuse to make the same mistake,' he quickly a.s.sured Joe, who paused his work to roll his mental eyes, before returning to work .

Not expecting another G.o.d to step into the fight already got his mom killed . They both knew that wasn't something they were willing to risk again .

Rebuilding himself took two days . Turning towards Stella, he saw her standing only a few feet away, holding a plate of cookies she had just pulled from her purse . With a smirk, he saw that they weren't even burned . Taking one, he bit into it, and she stuffed the rest back into her purse to envelope him in a bear hug . Burying her face into his neck, he felt tears trickling down his collar .

"It's alright, I only have one thing left to do," he whispered into her hair, patting her back .

Joseph had made her tattoos, as well as rebuilt her mana circuits . Enveloping her in his mana particles, he knew he could improve her even more .

Her tattoos began to dance as he focused on them . Deep inside, her mana circuits began to speed up as his mana touched them, tying her tattoos to her mana circuits and the mana battery . She gave out a soft cry, that was m.u.f.fled into his neck . He had learned his name in the runic language, and the first place he inscribed it, was on her soul .

"No matter how many lives we live, we will always find each other now . No more of those near misses like with Sylva . "

"Joseph . " She breathed his name with a sigh, as her eyes flashed his rune before it receded safely stored away within her .

"Stella, I think we should probably wait until after the marriage…"

She stared at him, backing away . "What?"

Joseph quickly made himself some clothes, and she blinked in surprise . She obviously hadn't noticed he was naked until he clothed himself . It was cute .

She gave a start, before turning her head away and blus.h.i.+ng a bright red . "I couldn't help it, you're back and you're…s.h.i.+ny?"

Joseph laughed, as he looked down at himself . The runes had a constant s.h.i.+mmer and were moving over his skin, slowly rising to the surface or fading back deeper . It's just a superficial effect, but it was neat to see glowing gold, red, blue and green runes appear . Despite being very much alive, he had no problems wielding dead mana now .
