39 Kidnapped

As the two came up to their meeting room, the door opened to reveal two other people sitting at a business table. "Yo," A man with pink hair gave a wave. "Is there news?" The other person, a lady stood up. "One of our spies found two possible candidates. She said, tapping a pointer to the projector screen. "Those are..." Larkin frowned. "Those are children, Janine." He sighed. Janine grinned. "They are children...but they're lab children." Larkin looked up quickly. "Any files you were able to hack?" Janine gave a nod. She pointed to the right girl. "This is 247," Janine began. "Her powers harvested only to her right arm. Larkin frowned. "Then what's the p-" Janine closed her eyes and smiled. She then pointed to the girl on the left. "This one is 246," she began. "Her power transferred to both of her arms, making her insanely strong." Larkin nodded. "So what is the plan, Ms. strategist...?" Janine grinned. "Why, we use both of these children and transfer their powers to you...boss." Larkin grinned. "Excellent." Kari, who was standing in the hallway, listening in watched in complete confusion. "Now," Larkin paused. "What are our plans to obtain them?" Mim pointed to himself proudly. "I got it, boss." Larkin turned to Mim. "How so?" Mim smirked. "I'll use my precise imitation skills, pretending to be their guardians, and lure 'em out." Larkin nodded. "Excellent, now..." he paused. "What in the case of intruders?" Mim gave Janine a nervous glance. Janine laughed nervously. "That's the...only flaw in our plan, actually." Larkin frowned. "What do you mean?" Mim rubbed his head. "Well, when I watched the Takes.h.i.+ family circus," Larkin's eyes widened. "They seem pretty flexible," Mim chuckled. "Did you s-" Mim turned to Janine, not hearing Larkin. "As for 246's family..." She bit her lip. "Well...her guardian was," she laughed nervously. "He's The Reaper," Larkin froze. "We'll be able to power through them though, we'll have both kids by the time they even try s.h.i.+t!" Mim exclaimed. Larkin looked at them for a minute. "Fine, we'll go with this plan." He turned to walk out. "Goin' to bed boss?" Mim asked. Larkin nodded, as he walked out. Janine turned to Mim, who in return shrugged.

As he walked down the corridors, he noticed Kari's door was open. He peeked in, seeing her sitting on the edge of her bed looking out a window. "I don't know what's best..." he froze as she began. "I don't wanna hurt innocent people, but!" She smiled sadly. "I owe papa for everything he's done for me..." Larkin cleared his throat. Kari quickly turned around. "P-papa...!" She exclaimed, running up to the doorway. "Papa I..." Larkin's cold stare broke into a smile quickly. "Kari..." He began, as he gently placed a hand on her head. "You should...go to bed." He smiled softly. She looked at him for a minute. "Y-yes...!" She cried. "G'night, papa!" She ran to her bed. "Goodnight, Kari." He said, shutting her bedroom door.

Kari looked out the window as she laid in her bed. "Did he...hear my prayers?" She shut her eyes. "Is he really an angel that saved me, or..." she shut her eyes. "He's a fallen angel..." she whispered, smiling sadly as she drifted off to sleep.
