Chapter 3

Later I said.

Surely, if I had been reincarnated and still tried to get to know the person named Valter Vera Sceveria, the future would be different.

And why shouldn't I want to know him? There was no way for me to know at this moment that in the not-too-distant future, I would regret it immensely.

In my previous life, my existence, who was called ******** Meserdia, had carved a cruelly vivid memory in Valter.

I was unaware of the fact that there was one boy who wept his eyes out over my death, throwing away all shame and dignity. Perhaps, that is where I – Flora Weber had sinned.

Maybe it was just an impulsive act for me, but I didn't expect how much my favor saved that boy's heart at that time.

Perhaps it was my own fault for not trying to find out what happened afterwards.

I've been thinking about the feelings of this man, Valter. And it was a self-inflicted injury when I took it as his anger towards me—–.

It's been 17 years since the last time I saw him…

I instantly recognized that the man who came from the back, dressed in a luxurious ensemble, was His Majesty, the current King – Valter Vera Sceveria, even though his height, facial features, and everything had changed.

His eyes were a little badly stained, but that silver thread on his hair projected his unique air.

As well as those icy blue eyes framed by long lashes.

I smiled involuntarily at the thought of that young boy in my memory. He's so brilliantly reminiscent of him.

—— Really, he's become a great man before I even saw you.

We spent only a few days together.

But I had a deep-rooted impression of the boy Valter as a fragile and unreliable human being. But now, his calm gait was reflected in my eyes. It looks like there is nothing to be frightened about.

It was more than enough to dispel the impression I had been holding on to.

"Huh? I wonder what has made you so happy, Laura?."

As I stood there, Fi looked at me dubiously for some reason.

She was smiling with a knowing look on her face.

"Yeah, I wonder, too."

"Yeah. You were smiling so happily, you know."

When I heard her comment, I clasped my hands to my cheeks, and just as Fi has said, my mouth was c.o.c.ked.

"What is it? Don't tell me, he's the kind of man Laura likes?"

"Don't talk nonsense."

I calmly denied it.

My feelings for Valter are at best impersonal. It's just that I couldn't leave him alone.

I don't mean to take this lightly, but there was no way I would have fallen in love with Valter, who was royalty, in the first place. Because I know it's downright absurd.

"You don't have to be shy about it. Everyone aspires to be a high ranking flower at least once, don't they?

"Well, you said it."

Immediately after that statement, for some reason, I felt a tingle in the back of my chest.

–The reason I stared at His Majesty was not because I was attracted to him, or because I had feelings for him. Simply because I missed him so much.

However, there was no fact that Flora Weber had ever met His Majesty once before.

If I were to tell Fi the truth, there will undoubtedly be a discrepancy.

Since I haven't yet confided in the fact that I was reincarnated, I had no choice but to lie only on this occasion.

"Hmmm. But from the looks of things, I was wrong to make such a quick a.s.sumption. But, it was still a good one."

"Was that good?"

"Yeah. I mean, His Majesty has never even once had a female official by his side, let alone a fiancée. So, yeah.

It would be a terrible idea covering His Majesty's fiancee, what with the huge gap in our status.

I might as well work as a court lady.

Since that path was impossible, this was what Fi might be trying to say.

"I'm a poor at being a woman."

In my previous life, I had taken His Majesty's hand without paying any attention to it while running away through the escape drama , but I might have overdone myself.

Now that the question arose, ugh, I'm filled with guilt that I've done something improper.

"Hmm. I've never heard of even a male servant serving on his side, so maybe he's simply decided that it's unnecessary.

"Oh, yeah? Yeah. That's right. …let's just take is as that."

She uttered a question mark at the tail of my remark in response to what I've said, though I pretended to be oblivious to it.

As such, while Fi and I were talking, His Majesty immediately approached the side of His Excellency Duke Michael, who was surrounded by a number of ladies, and called to him.

It was indistinct because of the slight distance, but their conversation still reached my ears.

“Have you found your bride?

"Yes. His Majesty's kindness has allowed us to host this party, and it has brought us together in good company."

"I see. Well, that's good to hear."

A bland conversation.

The reason for not naming the bride here and now probably has something to do with His Excellency Duke of Michael's position.

Because of his high position, he won't do anything detrimental and proceeded discussing the wedding ceremony slowly.

With that thought in mind, my heart suddenly missed a beat.

"By the way, what can I do for you, Your Majesty…?"

"I felt a nostalgic magic. It's just that…"

This reminded me of something.

As a knight in my previous life, I had never possessed the strength of someone that could called an Ikkitousen.

However, the reason I was able to protect Valter from our pursuers who were directed at him until we've almost reached my birthplace was…

— His astonis.h.i.+ng brilliance in the arts of magic, that was all about it.

Every creature called the human being is equipped with magic. It could be huge or it could be minuscule.

Although there are individual differences, it is known that magic is something that can be possessed by anyone without exception.

Under such circ.u.mstances, the human being, Valter, was  proficient at sensing magical powers.

Hence, we managed to escape from our pursuers hot on our tails.

"Oh, nostalgic magic, huh?"

"Yeah. It's the kind of magic which I can't forget, even if I wanted to."

With that, Valter's gaze immediately swept the surrounding.

I'm sure it was from one of his childhood friends or an old acquaintance that attended the party. Fortunately, since I have reincarnated, my magic power is different from my previous life.

Make no mistake about it, his nostalgic magic will not be about me. My fantasy with such optimism was unexpectedly ephemeral.

“There, you…

Apparently, Valter has found the person he's searching for.

I, or You.

In the old days, it used me, who was the first person, and he used to call me “You.” But then, he's gotten a lot worse before I know it.

With these thoughts in mind, I curiously tried to find the point beyond Valter's gaze, where the person he's searching for was supposed to be.

“…………Huh?”

For some reason, I locked eyes with Valter.

His eyes are as beautiful as ever, right?

….Wait, I shook my head and pulled myself back to reality.

"Huh?"

Other eyes looked at me.

For some reason, I thought I was at the end of Valter's gaze.

Does this mean that I am the person he is looking for? No, no, no, it can't be. I was in desperate denial that it was just not possible, but the reality was cruelly in disagreement with my state of mind.

And then my mind went blank.

………..What? What's this all about?
