Chapter 13

Of course, Gao Jun Fei did not leave Qi Feng out. “Come, let me add you too,” he grinned enthusiastically at Qi Feng.

Qi Feng had the impulse to reject Gao Yan Jun’s offer. He was displeased by the fact that Ling Ke had accepted Gao Yan Jun’s request so readily, yet rejected his in such a brusque manner.

Fortunately, being brought up as with elite cla.s.s manners had managed to help him retain his comportment even in such a crucial moments. However, his blackened face as he furiously punched the b.u.t.tons on his phone gave away his inner displeasure.

As Qi Feng was adding Gao Jun Fei, he turned slightly towards Ling Ke.

The implication of  this subtle action was obvious.

If Ling Ke was still unwilling to add him, even if Qi Feng did not get mad at him, there would no doubt be some distance between them after that.

Of course, Ling Ke was not that stupid. He took out his phone and said nonchalantly,  “Let me add you too.

Qi Feng: “…!”

Of course, Ling Ke had only dared to agree to Gao Jun Fei’s request so promptly because he had already made some preparations beforehand.

Nowadays, everyone uses WeChat, especially now that they are both roommates and cla.s.smates, it was inevitable for them to have to communicate via WeChat. There was no way he could avoid adding Qi Feng forever.

However, deep in his heart, he was still unable to let go of the fact that Qi Feng had forgotten him. Furthermore, he did not want the other party to know that he has been secretly observing him for so many years.

In the end, Ling Ke decided to create another ID for himself.

The ID that he had used to add Gao Jun Fei was for the new account that he had created last night. Hence, he did not mind adding Qi Feng now.

Thus, the three of them exchanged contact details under Qi Feng’s ever-changing expressions.

Qi Feng’s back was already starting to feel better from the medicine.

Having busied themselves with this medicine affair the whole morning, the both of them had not eaten any breakfast. Thus, Ling Ke took the initiative to invite Qi Feng to eat together. It was only then that Qi Feng seemed slightly appeased.

Gao Jun Fei had already eaten breakfast and thus he stayed in the room to pack his luggage.

However, there was actually another reason why he had not followed them – somehow, he had this gut feeling that there would be no place for him there.

Being “a man of great experience and foresight”, he was especially sensitive to his surroundings and the ambiance.

After Ling Ke and Qi Feng had left, Gao Jun Fei could not help feeling suspicious as he noticed that the utensils and cups around him were all…coincidentally in pairs.

He looked around and saw the two cups that were labelled with their names. Something flashed in Gao Jun Fei’s mind. As if coming to some enlightenment, he scratched his chin and murmurmed to himself. “Yup, that’s definitely it……”

F University’s canteen did not have much delicious food. Remembering that Qi Feng’s skin was sensitive to the blanket, Ling Ke suggested bringing Qi Feng out of the campus to buy a new one. They could then eat somewhere else on their way.

Qi Feng had no objection. He had finally managed to add Ling Ke on WeChat. Coupled with the fact that Ling Ke was currently going out of his way to show concern for him, Qi Feng’s mood had already somewhat improved. He was now in a mood to accept whatever Ling Ke proposed.

Both of them ate a delectable breakfast at the north of the school gate, before making their way to the shop.

“The things that you bought yesterday were from here?” Qi Feng asked.

“Yup.”

“That must have been troublesome. This is quite far away from the hostel.”

Ling Ke smiled and shook his head, rea.s.suring him that it was fine.

The store owner today was a different person. It was a middle-aged woman, most likely the store owner’s wife.

Both of them chose the most expensive blanket, as well as some soap to wash the blanket which they only decided to buy after the store owner’s wife gave her guarantee that it would help with Qi Feng’s sensitive skin.

The blanket was of a much higher quality than the school’s one. Qi Feng turned to Ling Ke. “Why not you buy one too? I will pay.”

“Ah?”

Qi Feng winked at him. “As thanks for helping me apply the medicine.”

Ling Ke was originally planning to reject his offer but he was electrified by Qi Feng’s playful wink. He recalled their “intimate moment” in the morning and the pleasant sensation he felt when they skin touched…

While he was still in his reverie, Qi Feng was already paying for two blankets.

Ling Ke: “…” Well, as long as he was happy.

As they were paying, they heard two girls gushed excitedly, “Wow, those bowls are so cute! …They even come in a pair!”

Even though the two girls were obviously talking about the bowls, Ling Ke still could not help feeling a bit startled when he heard the word “pair”. He felt as though they were referring to him and Qi Feng, which somehow made him feel both embarra.s.sed and nervous.

“Boss, since we bought so much stuff, can’t you give us that pair of bowls for free?” One of the girls boldly asked the store owner’s wife.

Ling Ke heaved a sigh of relief. She would definitely give them the bowls for free. This would prove to Qi Feng that he had not bought the bowls.

Unexpectedly, the boss owner’s wife said, “Young lady, it is not that I don’t want to give them to you but these bowls cost eighty yuan each. If I were to give every single person a bowl, wouldn’t I be making a loss? If you both like the bowls, why don’t you buy a pair? I will give each of you a spoon for free instead.”

Ling Ke: “…”

Qi Feng: “…”

Ling Ke felt a warmth spreading across his face. He was at a loss of words.

Only until they had walked a certain distance from the shop, did Ling Ke venture to clarify himself. “That pair that we have was really a gift from the store owner.”

If he had not tried to elucidate the matter, no one would have found anything amiss. However by attempting to clarify himself, he seemed to have make the situation worse. Any normal person would have been glad to receive the freebies. Now his eagerness to clarify the origins of the freebies, on the contrary, seemed very suspicious.

…s.h.i.+t! Has his IQ been eaten by a dog?!

Ling Ke fervently wished that Qi Feng had not read too much into his words and would jokingly say, “Yup, we were lucky,” or something around the lines that would a.s.suage the awkwardness in the air.

However, Qi Feng’s att.i.tude was ambivalent as he glanced at Ling Ke and said, “Oh…”

Ling Ke: “…”

—–Oh your head!!!

There was now an awkward silence.

Ling Ke was not the type who could easily find the right things to say at the right moment. He was still reproaching himself for uttering such misleading words. Feeling that he would only make things worse if he attempt to break the ice, Ling Ke decided to stay silent.

The problem was that Qi Feng who was usually very good at breaking the ice was also staying silent. The ambivalence and awkwardness between the two of them was gradually taking its form…

Until five minutes later.

Qi Feng suddenly changed the topic. “Wonder if there’s Wi-Fi in the hostel.”

Ling Ke heaved a sigh of relief and he immediately replied, “Ask Gao Jun Fei when we get back. He seems to know everything about the school.”

“Yup, after we set up the Wi-Fi, we can play DotA together…Which hero do you usually pick?”

“Clockwerk.”

“I play Shadow Fiend.”

“Oh, let’s play one round after the Wi-Fi is up then.”

“Yup.”

“….yup.”

……

After another moment of awkwardness, both of them took out their phone.

Ling Ke was scrolling through the news while Qi Feng had opened up his WeChat. He wanted to sneak a peak at Ling Ke’s posts. However, upon opening his WeChat, he realised that Ling Ke’s page was blank.

…Eh? Did Ling Ke delete everything?

…No, this looked like a newly-registered account.

…Wts, so Ling Ke really did not have WeChat at first!!??

This immediately cleared up all the doubts that Qi Feng had earlier. Together with that incident that had occurred when they came out, Qi Feng was now in raptures.

He immediately posted something on his social network.

Finally they returned to the hostel. Even though Gao Jun Fei was there, Ling Ke did not feel like staying in the same place as Qi Feng, at least for the moment. He hastily dumped his blanket in a corner, before discreetly leaving the room, hoping to calm his heart.

Gao Jun Fei saw the two blankets and was surprised. “You bought new ones again?”

Qi Feng had bought some cold drinks,  He gave one to Gao Jun Fei before opening another bottle for hismelf. He explained the reason behind the rashes on his back as he drank the water.

“So you were borned as the rich type?”

“Rich type?”

“Seeing that you are so handsome,” Gao Jun Fei pointed at his face before drinking another mouthful of water. “And how you suffer from rashes from a mere blanket. You really are the rich and brittle ‘princess’ type.”

Qi Feng laughed. Neither was he angry, nor did he try to deny it.

After drinking finish one bottle of water, Qi Feng asked Gao Jun Fei how they could set up the WiFi in their room.

“You can easily set up the WiFi by asking the people at the reception counter. But I advise you not to do so. The school’s WiFi is really slow and especially laggy after ten at night…actually you all should leave the WiFi to me. I will be able to set it up by tonight.”

Now, Qi Feng felt relieved. Seeing that Ling Ke had not returned, Qi Feng grabbed both of the blankets and went to the washroom to wash them with the newly purhased soap. He had never done such work before. Thus, he managed to make his s.h.i.+rt wet while performing his duty. After he had finished was.h.i.+ng the blankets, he decided to hang the blankets outside to dry after disinfecting them.

Gao Jun Fei was amused. “Young master, do you still want this blanket?”

Qi Feng: “???”

“The blankets are too wet. If you dry them under the sun now, their shape will be distorted.”

Meanwhile, Ling Ke had managed to find his way to the library in the midst of his aimless exploration of the school grounds.  He planned to return to the room only after he managed to erase that awkward incident from his brain.

However, on his way back to the room, Ling Ke took out his phone to look at Qi Feng’s page. He was astonished to find that Qi Feng had posted something one hour earlier — “A new friend. A new blanket. I am in a good mood [sun emoji]”

There was even a photograph of two pair of legs below the words. Parts of a blanket were also caught in the frame.

Qi Feng had probably taken the picture slanted to the ground.

According to the time he had posted this, this was probably when they both had bought the blankets and were returning back to the hostel. Both of them were using their own phones and this was definitely the most awkward moment between them.

But to think Qi Feng had even posted in his WeChat: ‘I am in a good mood.”

—Good your head!!

Ling Ke hugged his head as he stood in in some secluded part of the hostel. He could really stay there for more than half a day.

Extra:

Ling Ke: “Our pair of bowls, it is really the boss who gave us.”

Qi Feng: “Oh.”

While Ling Ke was feeling awkward, Qi Feng was actually relis.h.i.+ng in the sweet silence.

Qi Feng inner thoughts:

“He bought this bowl for me, and it is even a couple one.”

“It wasn’t that he didn’t want to add me on WeChat, it was because he didn’t had one…”
