Mattari Ch 7-5

5 A Special Woman -s.h.i.+ze-

Like the flickers of twinkling stars.

There is no reason to not be charmed by that kind-looking woman.

The first day we met. In consideration of us, who were in the midst of our nap, she let down the window blinds.

She is worthy of trust. She is different from the rest. That was what I felt.

Then the next day, as she cared for Sena, she too was worried about my injury and treated it. I am, I fell in love with this woman.

-And now. As she called my name with a gentle tone.

"…Um, s.h.i.+ze-san. I heard you are the oldest amongst the DemiMercSquad but, may I know how old are you?"

"…twenty four."

"How young. Ah, I am sixteen right now."

While touching my right hand, she continued on.

"I heard from Sensan. About the incident from thirteen years ago… About how s.h.i.+ze-san took care of the other (demi) children and taught them how to defend themselves."

Looks like she heard about this matter from Sena as well.

I stabbed the fondant chocolat with the fork in my left hand.

"I was born between a demi mother and a human father. My father was a knight, and trained me ever since I remembered it. And I only taught the same thing to Sena and the others"

"… I see. Would your father happen to be acquainted with the fief lord as well?"

"Yeah, they were close."

The fief lord of Domskhasa is a renowned knight and a baron. The said Baron (aka the fief lord) commanded a war with a neighboring country and fought side by side with s.h.i.+ze-san's father.

"Ever since the security of the city turned worse, my father stopped as a knight and decided to protect this place."

"Ah,.. and so, as a mercenary?"

*nod*

One of the reasons that the mercenary squad was formed was due to father's will, in order to protect this city by the border of the country.

In addition, this place was his hometown. To ensure that no further harm befell his comrades living in the villages nearby, he wanted to stop the roots of danger here.

And since the Baron held the same wishes, he employed us.

"…Is s.h.i.+ze-san close to the fief lord too?"

"Yeah… we drink together sometimes." as I answered thus, a broad smile could be seen from her face.

"You want to drink together some other time? The drinks the Baron brings are superb."

"Ah, no, that… to drink together with the Baron is presumptuous. It truly is a wonderful invitation, but I will have to decline."

And so she declined.

People in this country can legally drink when they turn sixteen. And here I thought I could teach her the ropes of drinking alcohol—

"That so…"

It's regrettable.

"…Ah, then how about a chocolate c.o.c.ktail? I could try to make them, and if it does turn out great please do have it with me."

… Not a bad idea to have a drink with her in the shop.

"Next time then," as I make a nod.

"I will do my best to make them delicious so please do look forward to it" as she made a gentle smile.

I slid my finger through her palm. It seems to have tickled her as she made a giggle.

….She is so beautiful, it makes me want to coax her.

"What a warm hand." (Rhonya)

She made a small whisper.

"…What a small hand," and so I whispered as well. An unexpectedly gentle tone came out from my mouth.

Small, beautiful and soft hands. Her hand is embraced within my black hand right now.

She too had embraced my hand within hers before, the day when I had injured it. Like the flickers of twinkling stars, the gentle gaze that she makes made me fall for her.

How I hope to spend time to make a move on her and make her fall for me.

To me, Rhonya is an important woman.

As I continue on savoring the sensation of her hand, I continued on to talk about the kind of alcohols that Sena and the others like. And so, the pleasurable time pa.s.sed by.
