Yun s.h.i.+s.h.i.+ giggled and continued, “Today, Mommy went to the hospital for a checkup! After the ultrasound, the doctor told us! He said that I’m pregnant with a little princess! So you guys are going to be big brothers!”

Little Yichen beamed with joy when he heard that. “Wow! Really?! Heavens! It’s really a little sister! My dream’s finally coming true?!”

“Calm down!”

Youyou placed a hand on his shoulder and tried to look calm as he asked, “Is the ultrasound result accurate?! I heard that sometimes, the results might not be accurate!”

“Of course it’s accurate! Silly!” Mu Yazhe glared at him and retorted, “Are you saying that you’d prefer a little brother over a little sister?!”

“No…”

Subconsciously, he insisted, “I’d prefer a little sister! But…”

The surprise came too suddenly and he was rather slow to respond. The boy took a look at Yun s.h.i.+s.h.i.+’s blissful expression, then at Mu Yazhe and Hua Jin’s joyful smiles and finally believed it.

Only, compared to Little Yichen, his way of expressing surprise was reserved, very much like Mu Yazhe’s.

He pretended to be calm as he held the beverage cup and took a sip of fruit juice to steady himself. However, after downing half a cup, he failed to contain his ecstasy and excitement!

He was visibly moved as he placed the cup down on the table. It was as though the entire world was filled with blooming flowers and fireworks, his mood was incomparably brilliant!

“I have a little sister!”

Youyou clutched his chest where his heart was beating rapidly.

This was the greatest news!

Little Yichen also asked excitedly, “How long do I have to wait before I can hold my cute little sister?!”

“How is it that you seem more enthusiastic than your daddy?”

Hua Jin smiled at him. “There is still a while to go yet, at least six months!”

Youyou was much more attentive than Little Yichen. He suddenly asked nervously, “Mommy, since you’ve done a prenatal checkup, how is the fetus?”

Yun s.h.i.+s.h.i.+ could not hide her excitement as well. “It’s very stable. Your little sister is developing well in my belly! She’s very healthy! The doctor said that she’ll definitely be a smart little princess!”

Having been worried for some time now, Youyou could finally exhale.

He smiled in relief. “It doesn’t matter if it’s a boy or a girl, as long as it’s healthy and safe!”

He had always been sensible.

Although, he yearned for his mommy to give them a little sister. As an older brother, he would definitely dote on her!

However, in the recent past, his mother’s health had deteriorated.

She had rejected food, and she was blinded. During those days, he felt like his world was crumbling!

Later on, when she came home, they took good care of her. Daddy had put aside much of his work to watch over her. The whole family was on tenterhooks, nervous that something bad would happen to the unborn child because Mommy couldn’t take another blow.

However, now that the prenatal examination had shown the fetus to be safe and well, he was completely relieved!

“Today is really a day worth celebrating!”

Hua Jin poured everyone a gla.s.s of juice and took the lead to raise his gla.s.s. “Shouldn’t we have a toast to celebrate?”

“Yes.” Mu Yazhe nodded.

Yun s.h.i.+s.h.i.+ smiled and reached out to look for the gla.s.s. Seeing this, Mu Yazhe considerately pushed it into her hand. She held it firmly and carefully lifted it up with a sweet smile. “Bottoms up!”

“Bottoms up!”

Everyone lifted their gla.s.ses in unison and touched them against hers with pleasant clinks.

“Bottoms up!”

Everyone cheered.

Mu Yazhe was especially glad as he downed the fruit juice in one gulp. Youyou also finished the fruit juice in his gla.s.s. Taking advantage of this moment when no one was noticing him, he quietly reached out and quickly wiped away the tears that had formed in the corner of his eyes.

Sharp-eyed Little Yichen, on the other hand, noticed this. He put his arm around his brother’s shoulders and smiled. “Youyou, we’re going to be big brothers!”

“Uh huh!” Youyou nodded his head heavily.
