"Why did you—" but her words trailed off as Li Chuntao's sharp gaze cut her off. 

"What? Cat caught your tongue already, Miss Song?" She chuckled and went to the seat that Mu Jianyu occupied earlier and sat beside the old woman's bed.. "I'm just making sure that no one would be able to disturb us, given that this is actually the first time we've met each other. 

Song Xiangrong felt an indescribable fear towards the woman sitting next to her. She was also confused as to why Li Xiuying said this was their first meeting. Sure, she might have lost some memories but this wasn't the first time she met her. 

Her instincts were telling her to avoid her daughter-in-law at all cost, but she was bound to her bed and was trapped like a prey, pinned by 'Li Xiuying''s cold gaze. 

Why did she feel like someone turned down the air condition? She was starting to have gooseb.u.mps everywhere as she tried to ignore how her daughter-in-law looked at her. 

Li Chuntao took the medical chart that must have been forgotten by one of the staff of the foster home. On it she saw Song Xiangrong's current health status and how much Mu Jianyu owed the inst.i.tution for taking care of her. 

She let out a low whistle when she saw the bill Mu Jianyu had yet to settle. So how the f.u.c.k did he plan to pay when he'd been spending more money on his mistress recently? 

"Mother, this is such an insane amount to pay. If this is what he was paying the foster home the past five years, I wonder where he's getting all the money to sustain it," she said with sarcasm. 

How could Mu Jianyu afford to send his mother here when the cost was a considerably huge amount, an amount that could easily topple the monthly salary he was getting from Li Corporation. The old woman s.h.i.+vered and refused to look at her face. It seemed like she was aware of where her son was getting the money anyway. 

The smile on Li Chuntao's face faltered and it went back to its impa.s.sive cold mask that she had. 

'How dare you look down on my sister when it's her money that's keeping you alive until now, you shameless old hag! It seems like the apple doesn't fall far from the tree after all,' she glared at the old woman. 

"Ah, I see that you have Arteriosclerosis and would need immediate surgery soon? Oh, my. This costs a lot. Not only will you need an angioplasty, your doctor also recommends having an endarterectomy. Mother, do you know what kind of procedures these are?" 

If looks could kill, Li Chuntao was sure she would've murdered this ungrateful woman at this moment. 

"I-I have no idea what they are," Song Xiangrong easily admitted, much to Li Chuntao's liking. 

She took a glance at Li Chuntao's face, which was a wrong move, since she couldn't look away from her no matter how much she tried to tell herself to avoid her daughter-in-law's gaze. She was frozen in fear and couldn't move from where she was. 

"Mother, that won't do. Why didn't they explain to you the procedure? As a patient, you should be aware of how the procedure works!" Li Chuntao smirked evilly at the older woman. Dare to bully her twin sister? Then let's see who'll beg for pity later! 

"Let's see, an angioplasty. Don't worry, Mother, this couldn't be considered a major surgery, but I'll say, as with all types of surgery, coronary angioplasty carries a risk of complications. However, the risk of serious problems is small. Complications can occur during or after an angioplasty. It's common to have bleeding or bruising under the skin where the catheter was inserted." 

When Li Chuntao heard nothing from Song Xiangrong, she continued. 

"And, oh, if they haven't told you yet, you need to be awake during the procedure, but don't worry, Mother. The doctors will give you medications to relax before they do it." 

The older woman remained speechless throughout Li Chuntao's explanation. She was also bewildered at how this woman knew as much as this. 

"However, I cannot say the same thing for endarterectomy." She sounded worried and concerned, which added to the old woman's anxiety. Song Xiangrong couldn't understand why she felt her daughter-in-law took a 180 degree turn and became a vicious woman after her accident. 

Li Chuntao picked up the peeling knife she had used from the top of the table and pounced at the older woman on the bed. Song Xiangrong was about to scream when she felt a cold metal pressed against her neck while her daughter-in-law's face was hovering close to her. 

"Li… Li Xiuying, what are you planning to do to me?" The old woman was shaking in fear as she looked at the feral grin on Li Chuntao's face. 

"Relax, Mother. Please don't move. I'm not gonna hurt you. I'm merely explaining the procedure you'll undergo to you. Such a filial daughter-in-law, am I not? I should tell you what's going to happen so you'll know what to expect, right?" 

"Li Xiuying, stop this…" Song Xiangrong begged. She was starting to think that her daughter-in-law had lost her mind. "Stop this already." 

Li Chuntao shook her head and sighed. The back of the blade of the knife pressed against the wrinkly skin of the older woman. 

"That can't do, Mother. Now, where were we? Oh, right. The endarterectomy." She smiled mischievously and trapped the old woman on the bed. 

"For carotid endarterectomy surgery, you may be given a numbing medication." Li Chuntao said in a matter of fact tone. As if she had known this procedure for a long time. "Or you may be given general anesthesia that puts you into a sleep-like state." She then smiled, the kind of smile that brings misfortune to those who receive it. 

"Then your surgeon will make a cut along the front of your neck, open your carotid artery, and remove the plaque deposits clogging your artery." Li Chuntao then made a motion using the back of the knife on Song Xiang Rong's neck as if she was making an incision on it. 

Song Xiangrong couldn't help but pee on her own bed and cried hysterically while begging Li Chuntao to stop her torture. 

"After that, your surgeon will repair the artery with st.i.tches or a patch made with a vein or artificial material. Your surgeon might use another technique that involves cutting the carotid artery and turning it inside out, then removing the plaque before reattaching it to your artery." 

Li Chuntao pushed the woman away from her and laughed amusedly while Song Xiangrong curled herself away from the crazy looking daughter-in-law of hers. 

"Li Xiuying, you're crazy! Why did I let my son marry someone like you?! You are no angel!" 

Li Chuntao laughed more, put the knife back on the table before pulling the chair she was sitting on earlier. She sat and crossed her legs before leaning forward while cupping her chin with one hand. 

"Oh, Miss Song, of course I'm no angel, because the angel you know is already dead,"
