118 Qin Linfeng 2

This was the first time Li Chuntao joined a session that was so intimate and private with orphaned children. She'd never heard of inst.i.tutions like this orphanage; that not only took care of these homeless children but also catered to their emotional needs, which Li Chuntao thought was a good thing.

"How do I do what?" Qin Linfeng lifted his head to look at her, seeing her looking outside the window.

Li Chuntao was slightly disturbed seeing Mu Jianyu outside looking fl.u.s.tered and angry over the person he was talking over the phone. He might be talking with Lin Meirong right now. She thought.

"Miss Li?" Qin Linfeng called after her.

"Oh, right. Yes. I was wondering how do you keep looking at the bright side when everything is trying to pin you down?" She didn't think she could ever do it. Not when she'd lost her whole family in a car crash.

"I know it's hard for you to understand Miss Li, but I'm used to doing this for a long time. You can take it as my way to cope up with obstacles life has thrown my way," Qin Linfeng's gaze softened as he stared at her. If it was hard for him to believe that Li Xiuying had died, the pain Li Chuntao was feeling right now must be incomparable to what he had.

He couldn't think of any words to make Li Chuntao feel better without offending her; thinking that he only said out of pity. He wasn't stupid not to realize that while the Li twins shared the same face, their personalities were total opposites.

Li Xiuying might have understood what he meant but he doubted Li Chuntao would.

'Each one of us has difficulties in life, Miss Li. The kind of life you have depends on how you deal with it. Though I know there are circ.u.mstances that a person cannot control, such as the darkness around them. However, that doesn't mean you need to be part of it. Being happy is one's choice. You can't let negativity devour you, forbidding you to see the happiness you deserve."

"I see," was Li Chuntao's response. She understood what he meant but it was easier said than done. She crossed her arms over her chest to observe the person, who had tormented her sister the most, outside.

Ying had chosen to lead a happy life, but why was her future s.n.a.t.c.hed from her by another person? It was hard for Li Chuntao to see the bright side of losing Ying like this, as there was nothing in this world she couldn't give just to have her sister back.

An hour later, Li Chuntao was sitting in Mu Jianyu's pa.s.senger seat as he drove them back to her penthouse. She'd been awfully silent since they left the orphanage.

Did she remember something? Why wasn't she saying anything?

"Ying, are you alright? Is something bothering you?" He took a side glance from his driver's seat before returning his focus on the road. He could only hope she didn't see him arguing with Lin Meirong over the phone earlier. That d.a.m.n woman was spending a lot of money these days and it was giving him a headache.

If his bank didn't call to inform him that the card he'd given her had already reached its limit, he wouldn't even know how much of his money Lin Meirong had been spending. When he told her he would give the child financial support, he didn't mean that she should suck his money dry!

"I'm alright. Just a little tired," Li Chuntao said, rubbing her temple and closing her eyes. The night hadn't arrived, yet she already felt exhausted and ready to retire for the night.

"I see. I hope you enjoyed your time with the children. You used to ask me to accompany you to visit them, but it never happened."

Li Chuntao opened her eyes and rested her head on an arm propped up against the window. She eyed him curiously. "Why?"

Mu Jianyu felt he just shot his own foot for saying those words. Indeed, weeks before the accident, Ying had invited him to accompany her but he declined her every time she asked him to.

"I was busy…" He awkwardly said. "There was too much work for to deal with."

Li Chuntao looked away, hiding the disgust in her eyes.

'Liar. you were busy dating and sleeping with your mistress. Of course, you wouldn't have time to spare for Ying.'

When he parked his car, Li Chuntao didn't wait for him to open her door and stepped out before making way to the elevator leading to her penthouse. Seeing that she didn't have even an ounce of intention to wait for him, Mu Jianyu hurriedly followed behind her.

"Ying, did I make a mistake? Is it something I did?" he asked helplessly, "You've been acting weird these days. Is it because Shen Zichen keeps bothering you?" He asked as soon as the door closed and the elevator moved up.

"Brother Zichen has been treating me well recently, Mr. Mu. Please don't say something like that about him in the future." Li Chuntao didn't give him a chance to argue with her. "In fact, he gave me a kitten to be my companion so I wouldn't feel alone. Isn't he amazing?"

Mu Jianyu clenched his fist on his side, forcing himself to calm down. She was his wife and yet Ying was allowing Shen Zichen to visit her almost every day as if he owned the place she lived.

Shen Zichen had just confessed his feelings to her. Shouldn't she feel confused about how to deal with him, given that she was still a married woman and Shen Zichen was a friend she knew for years?

But Ying acted like Shen Zichen's confession didn't affect her at all. Mu Jianyu could tell that there was a significant change in the relations.h.i.+p between the two… in a good way. Something he dreaded to accept.

He didn't want to accuse his own wife of cheating but he couldn't help but feel that Ying was favoring Shen Zichen now, more than ever. Mu Jianyu felt that he was starting to lose her… losing her to his sworn enemy.

As he expected, as soon as Ying pressed the doorbell to notify Su Ling of their arrival, Shen Zichen was the one who answered the door. The man yawned before he regarded Ying and Mu Jianyu.

"You are early today." He told Ying as he stepped aside for her to enter. "Did you enjoy visiting the children?"

Li Chuntao hummed and removed her shoes, stepping inside her own home. She threw her handbag on the couch and let herself relax.

"Hmm, Mr. Mu was kind enough to let me see and meet the kids. They are really nice," she responded, earning a scowl from Shen Zichen, while Mu Jianyu felt ecstatic that she was giving him some credit today.

"I knew you would like it," he sneakered next to Shen Zichen. "Why don't we set another date to visit them again?" He offered.

"Maybe next time. I still have a lot of catching up to do, Mr. Mu," Li Chuntao declined his suggestion, seeing how Shen Zichen's face turned darker than it already was.
