Chapter 32 Luxuriating In Love

He was standing straight with the brown collar of his windbreaker turned up. His angular chin added to his indifference.

She could only see his side face in a blur behind wisps of white smoke.

She walked over and whispered, “Uncle.”

Mu extinguished the cigarette and his face darkened as soon as he saw Ye coming out with her hands empty.

He bypa.s.sed her, about to return inside the store.

“Uncle!”

Definitely knowing what he was going to do, Ye hurriedly walked up to stop him. If he really went to ask for Sam's trouble, she would lose her trust by Sam.

“I don't like that dress.”

With a straight face, Mu slightly lowered his head, and looked down at Ye commandingly.

“You like it very much.” He sounded very a.s.sured. “I can see that.”

Hearing this, Ye's heart couldn't help tightening up.

She didn't know whether it was because he was too smart or he just knew her too well to be able to see through her so easily.

Whatever the reason, it appeared not good to her.

She didn't want to be in the total control of him.

She sighed and told him the truth.

“I just don't want to owe you too much.”

“I won't be able to pay it off.”

Mu said plainly, “I've told you there's no need for you to pay me back.”

Ye blew a raspberry at him, “I'm a fool if I believe it.”

Mu laughed.

“Am I really looking so unreliable?”

“What do you think?”

Once they started quarreling, both were reluctant to show weakness.

Though in a while, Mu didn't wanna quarrel with her anymore.

He rubbed her head and looked at her up and down.

“It'll be Liao Meiling's birthday party next week. What are you gonna wear?”

“I'll just pick one out of my old dresses.”

She was not going there to be in the limelight. Instead, she was to get to know Liao Meiling.

So it wouldn't be very important to make a big deal of what to dress.

“I heard Li Haina will be there, too.”

Mu pretended to disclose this information carelessly, but it was exactly for her indeed.

“Don't know which designer's dress she has ordered.”

Ye, “…”

She was, to the end, a student girl who hadn't finished college. Thus, she wouldn't allowed to be outdone in the battle with her close friend.

“Well …”

“Hmm?”

“I seem to have left something in Sam's store. I … I'm afraid I have to go back to get it.”

In this way, Ye asked Sam to find her a special set of high-notched dress which also suited her perfectly, although she did not take that sky-blue dress in the end.

In the store, Mu said, “It's a gift from Sam, and it has nothing to do with me. So, it should not be a burden unless you feel like you owe me something again.”

Ye nodded. But the words weighed on her heart and did not make her feel any better.

He said she didn't have to pay back, but could she really?!

How could she be suddenly so lucky and did not need to pay a price to have a capricious and temperamental uncle come out of nowhere to help her without asking for something in return?

After that day, Mu did not touch her for many days in a row.

He really seemed to have kept his promise to try his best to be her caring uncle instead of seeking to do anything across the line.

It remained so for a long time, making Ye's trust in him increasing day by day.

Apart from her very bad first impression of him, Ye now thought he seemed actually quite nice after staying with him for a long time.

He would pay attention to her favorite food, avoid smoking at her presence, and sit quietly next to her playing with his iPad while she was watching entertainment programs on the TV in the evening.

Life carried on with full of such cosiness and this man gradually occupied Ye's heart.

She didn't know Mu was playing hard to get. All she knew was that she was about to totally fall in love with this man and could no longer live without him.
