Chapter 29: No Need To Pay Back From Now On

“Mu Tingchen showed up in person at Mrs. Ye's funeral for Ye s.h.i.+wei!”

“The entangled relations.h.i.+p between Family Mu and Family Ye!”

All of a sudden, the media scrambled to report on what happened at the funeral. Family Mu and Ye now lay in the teeth of the storm.

As for Li Dakai and his daughter's misfortune, they were supposedly the ones who got beaten up, but netizens all stood up for Ye s.h.i.+wei due to Mu's intervention and blamed and badly cursed Li Haina for her vicious c.r.a.ps at the funeral, though Li Haina had intended to attract public sympathy for her own suffering.

Ye s.h.i.+wei was sitting cross-legged in her most relaxed posture on the couch eating fruit while watching these pieces of news.

Occasionally she would burst out laughing when she couldn't agree more with some of the condemning comments about Li Haina.

Without her notice, Mu had walked over and sat next to her, with the couch sagging evidently.

Sniffing his usual smell of mint out, she looked up and spoke softly.

“Thank you, uncle.”

Mu just responded with a faint smile.

Such tenderness of Mu might only exist in front of Ye s.h.i.+wei. He would appear cold and indifferent in all other occasions.

He pointed to the pared and cut apple on the fruit plate in her hand and opened his mouth.

Ye fed him with one biggest piece.

“Er …”

It made him choking so hard that it took him a while before catching his breath.

Ye was amused at the scene. With the morning daylight s.h.i.+ning up onto her face, the inexplicably sweet smile on her face were indelibly imprinted on Mu's mind.

With soulful eyes, he could not help leaning over and kissing her in next minute.

Ye was wearing only a thin nightdress as she just got up for a little while. She could sense the extreme warmth of his body after being held in his arms like this.

He still smelled of smoke, but she was less resistant.

Such magical chemical reaction had happened for so many times between them that they were both doomed to be unable to escape from their destiny.

A cold feeling struck her around her neck. She looked down and found a necklace there.

“What's this?”

Mu hugged her and helped push back wisps of hair over her ears for her.

“Necklace.”

Ye rolled her eyes at him helplessly.

“Of course, I can see it's a necklace. I mean why do you give me this?”

“I saw it on the street the other day, so I bought it for you.”

It was a cherry-shaped necklace inlaid with rubies. Judging from its craftsmans.h.i.+p and texture at first glance, Ye knew it must be of great value.

Ye got up from his arms, took off the necklace around her neck and gave it back to him.

“That's too much. I can't accept it.”

She already owed him so much and she thought she shouldn't pay him back in the same way every time.

Even if she now despised herself the most and couldn't look at herself in the eye, Ye still wanted to exercise the most possible restraint to avoid being too degenerate.

Mu narrowed his eyes, which were now filled with more obscurity.

He said plainly, “It's not very expensive. Just take it and don't care about the money too much.”

Ye shook her head insistently.

“I don't want it.”

Her stubbornness made him shake his head helplessly. He stretched out to rub on her hair gently with full of tenderness in his eyes.

“You don't need to pay back for this.”

Then he turned around and lit a cigarette. His back figure surrounded by wisps of smoke, he continued to say in a hoa.r.s.e voice, which pa.s.sed by her ears with as enough charm as to carry her away.

“You don't need to pay me back from now on.”

It was wrong for them to start the relations.h.i.+p from the beginning.

He actually wanted this girl's heart, which meant he shouldn't try to get it in the vulgar way which was typical in the adult world.

Up to now, he had grown quite confident that he could succeed.

He firmly believed that she couldn't escape from him, let alone live without him.

He gave her absolute freedom, but in fact he was making her more unaffordable without him.
