Chapter 23: Prelude To The Funeral

She got up and had a good stretch.

Out of her expectation, she had a comfortable sleep last night, and it just pa.s.sed in full of peace and comfort last night.

She couldn't believe the person she slept with yesterday was the same person as the one who had made her have s.e.x with him in the car against her will.

She raised her arm in doubt, and put it close to her nose and sniffed.

It was exactly his typical smell of a mixture of freshness and coolness.

Where did he go getting up so early?

Was there something going on in the company …?

As she thought about this, she was about to get out of bed, when a card fell out of the movement of her hands.

It said “Invitation letter for Liao Meiling's birthday party”.

Liao Meiling …

Ye recalled that it was the name of Shen Sheng's wife.

It was the favor she had asked in return in the kitchen before. It turned out that he really bore it in mind, and fulfilled it so quickly …

Ye got out of bed and cleaned herself up. Liao Meiling's birthday was on next month. But this wasn't the only thing she needed to think about at present.

She thought that he would probably fulfill his words now that he had promised to keep Family Ye's old house for her last night.

She walked out of the bedroom and found the villa was quiet.

It was very s.p.a.cious, but looking downstairs, she felt it like a palace full of luxury but loneliness.

It was just one of those super expensive but specious houses.

To her relief, she saw bustling Fang Ze in the kitchen after she arrived downstairs.

“Uncle Fang Ze.”

Ye's overly polite salutation made Fang Ze stupefied.

“Miss Ye, you don't have to call me like that. Just call me Fang Ze.”

She smiled softly, “Then you promise not to call me Miss Ye in the future. Just call me Weiwei.”

Ye thought she might as well get used to everything here as soon as possible while she apparently would have to stay in this house for a long time.

She had a good breakfast, though feeling a little bit unaccustomed to eating alone.

After she finished her remaining half gla.s.s of milk, Fang Ze walked over with some files.

“By the way, Miss Ye, Mr. Mu told me to let you have a look at these after your breakfast.”

“What are these?”

“Hmm …” Fang was a little hesitant. He continued the explanation after he got his mood right. “It'll soon be the First Seven for Mrs. Ye. Mr. Mu has written Everything about the funeral inside.”

The funeral … First Seven …

Ye froze.

It happened so soon …

She had tended to feel her mother still staying around these days and having not left her. She kept dreaming her mother touching her head and telling her that everything was going well for her.

In her subconsciousness, her mother would be really gone after the funeral.

And this was exactly what she didn't wanted to happen.

Holding the files in her hand, her wrist could not help shaking. She could only swallow all the grief that welled up in her heart.

Fang Ze sighed.

“Weiwei, I'm sorry for what you've experienced.”

In the end, she couldn't muster up the courage to face all these. Instead, she returned the papers to Fang and spoke in an extremely restrained tone, “Just do as what my uncle planned. We're all from Family Mu. I think he will give mother a formal and decent funeral.”

“Ok.”

In the following days, Ye was busy in collecting her mother's stuff in the old house. She was even reluctant to let go of the old newspapers her mother read.

More and more memories of her mother welled up in her heart while less and less her belongings stayed.

Occasionally when she finished her day of collection very late at night, she would sent a text message to Mu, saying that she would not go back and would stay overnight in the old house.

And Mu would reply back with one same word every time.

“Ok.”

Being in the old house alone wasn't easy for her. Surrounded by empty rooms, she couldn't help recalling up all the past.

Her memories of her mother thus became stronger.
