Chapter 18: Losing The House

She didn't want to go back home – that empty house.

Every day in the past, there would be cooked meals waiting for her coming back home and she would have meals with her parents. But now, all those beautiful things only existed in memories.

But anyway, she had to face the reality. So many things were waiting for her.

Elegance Dwelling was where her family formerly lived. Although her father was missing and her family went bankrupt, this house had always belonged to them.

But today …

When she went back, she found several bank treasurers gathering outside her house.

When she walked closer, she found the door of the house should have been opened!

“Who are you?! Why are you in my house?”

“You must be Miss Ye s.h.i.+wei.” The woman dressed as a bank clerk spoke politely and respectfully, “Your house has been mortgaged, and we are here to liquidate the a.s.sets today.”

“Mortgaged? Who gives you permission to do this?!”

“Me.”

A familiar female voice came from in the house. Ye looked following the source of the voice, and saw that hideous face.

Li Haina, wearing a pair of 12-centimeter high-heeled shoes, was leaning against the framed door of the house, with her eyebrows raised high.

“This house is originally an a.s.set of the company. Now there has been found a deficit of a big sum of money on the company's accounts because of your father's embezzlement. So, there isn't any other way out. The only choice is to sell the house to fill the deficit in the company.”

“No way! How could this house be an a.s.set of the company?!”

If that were the case, Li Haina would have tried to take the house away from her earlier on. How would she wait until today?

“Then show me your premises permit of this house and let me see whether it's your name written on it.”

“You!”

Li had poked in her weakness because she didn't have the premises permit.

Otherwise, she would have the house mortgaged to treat her mother's illness.

Elegance Dwelling was the only remaining old house in the city, with its price very high. Li Haina had long taken a fancy to it, but she just hadn't been able to get it all the time.

Now, she must have grasped the opportunity to successfully set her father up and s.n.a.t.c.hed the house away.

“It's impossible!”

Ye could do nothing but keep saying this.

She had no evidence, no premises permit, and no one to rely on. Even if she knew in her heart that it was all a setup, she could do nothing about it.

She watched her belongings being taken out one by one and placed in the empty yard. Those tables and chairs, which brought with memories, were all piled together.

“I guess you wouldn't be needing any of the furniture. I've contacted someone to move it all away. The house will be torn down in a few days.”

“Torn down?!”

“*** has originally picked for this house. If it hadn't been for your family's occupation, it would have been torn down earlier on. To put it in a nutsh.e.l.l, it's been approved by the mayor. Ye s.h.i.+wei, even if you can afford the money now, you won't be able to keep the house.”

Bad news came as bolts from the blue, making it hard for Ye to accept.

Now this matter also involved the mayor. A sense of hopelessness struck her from the bottom of her heart and slowly engulfed her.

“No!”

Her parents were already gone, and the house was now the only thing she owned that had memories about them.

She rushed forward to stop those people throwing her things out, only to be shoved mercilessly onto the ground.

Li's indifference was even more abhorrent.

“Ye s.h.i.+wei, you're doomed! Family Ye is doomed! Never expect to have an upturn! Just accept it!”

Doomed …

With Li's voice echoing repeatedly in her mind, Ye cried, with her tears falling onto the ground and soon disappearing into the earth.

She had thought that she could get through it as long as she was strong enough.

But life seemed to have had no mercy on her, thumping her with one blow after another.

She didn't stop crying until … a brand new Rolls-Royce was parked in front of the Elegance Dwelling.
