Hymn 6. L. M.

"_Awake, my soul, and with the sun._"

Awake, my soul, and with the sun Thy daily stage of duty run: Shake off dull sloth, and early rise, To pay thy morning sacrifice.

2 Redeem thy misspent moments past, And live this day as if thy last; Thy talents to improve take care; For the great day thyself prepare.

3 Let all thy converse be sincere, Thy conscience as the noonday clear; For G.o.d's all-seeing eye surveys Thy secret thoughts, thy words and ways.

4 Wake, and lift up thyself, my heart, And with the angels take thy part; Who all night long unwearied sing High glory to the eternal King.

5 Praise G.o.d, from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below; Praise him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Hymn 7. L. M.

"_Glory to thee, my G.o.d, this night._"

Glory to thee, my G.o.d, this night, For all the blessings of the light.

Keep me, O keep me, King of kings, Beneath thine own almighty wings!

2 Forgive me, Lord, for thy dear son, The ill that I this day have done; That with the world, myself and thee, I, ere I sleep, at peace may be.

3 Teach me to live, that I may dread The grave as little as my bed; Teach me to die, that so I may Rise glorious at the awful day.

4 O let my soul on thee repose!

And may sweet sleep mine eyelids close; Sleep that shall me more vigorous make To serve my G.o.d when I awake.

5 If in the night I sleepless lie, My soul with heavenly thoughts supply; Let no ill dreams disturb my rest, No powers of darkness me molest.

6 Praise G.o.d, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Hymn 8. C. M.

"_While shepherds watch'd their flocks by night._"

While shepherds watched their flocks by night, All seated on the ground, The angel of the Lord came down, And glory shone around.

2 "Fear not," said he, (for mighty dread Had seized their troubled mind,) "Glad tidings of great joy I bring To you and all mankind.

3 "To you in David's town this day Is born, of David's line, The Saviour, who is Christ the Lord; And this shall be the sign:
