Rong Jian waved his hand in front of her face . "Wifey? What's wrong?"

Shen Tianyu came back to herself and the present . "Nothing, I was just talking to Xue Lang . " She answered .

Rong Jian frowned . "What's so important that you can't say it in front of me?"

"Is there a need? It's not like you could hear Xue Lang's response anyways either . Besides, it wasn't anything too important, just some idle talk . As contract beast and Master, it would most certainly not do to have a shallow relations.h.i.+p . And I do not like being a tyrant, it would be best if we could cooperate as equals rather than one ruling over the other . " She countered . She grew up in the 21st century where democracy was the biggest and most popular governmental structure after all . Besides, she quite liked the idea of "even the poor and weak can have a say" model . That was true equality in her opinion . She had even implemented that model for her businesses . Naturally, she would try to implement it here in this highly patriarchal, one-sided world, even if it was just to make herself more comfortable here . "Anyways, can you not call me wifey?" She changed the topic .

The topic caught Rong Jian's attention and he abandoned the previous one immediately . It wasn't really important to him anyways . He was just jealous his wifey hid something from him but not the Snow Wolf . "Why not? You agreed to it before . "

"No, I didn't, I just reluctantly gave up . But after careful consideration, I think it's still better to call me by a nickname or something like that if you want to sound intimate . Your current way of address will make others misunderstand . We're not even formally engaged . You might not be affected at all but my reputation will . Besides, it could bring unnecessary troubles with stupid brainless b.u.t.terflies(3) and I don't want to deal with that . " Shen Tianyu reasoned .

Not wanting his wifey to worry or bother with troubles, Rong Jian begrudgingly agreed . He wanted his wifey to be happy and eventually like him back . He wasn't in the mind of forcefully marrying someone . Though this could also be another facet of his possessiveness, he wanted her heart as well as her body . And forcefully marrying her before he had her heart would definitely be an obstacle to that . "Fine . . . then, what nickname should I call you?"

"I don't really care . " She nonchalantly replied .

After thinking with his arms crossed for a while, Rong Jian's face lit up . "How about Tian'er?"

Curious, she asked him . "Why that? Usually, people make nicknames like that from the last character of their names right?(1) So I would be Yu'er . "

"Because Tian'er is my sky and everything beneath it, so Tian'er fits just right . (2)" Rong Jian answered with a proud stance and a satisfied smile, nodding his head .

Unbeknownst to her, Shen Tianyu's cheeks flushed . "What's with that reasoning?! So embarra.s.sing . " 'He's such a playboy, being able to say such a cheesy line with a serious happy face . ' She thought to herself . She managed to pull herself together . "Fine . I was that one that told you to pick . Then, call me that instead form now on . "

Rong Jian nodded and started staring at her . He stared so much, Shen Tianyu thought he was trying to bore a hole through her . "What?" She couldn't ignore his stare filled with unrestrained expectation so she asked him .

"Tian'er won't give me a nickname?" He asked with a tilted head and slight smile on his lips . His gaze was filled with expectations, warmth and a hint of teasing .

"Guh . Fine then . Um . . . " She also started seriously contemplating a nickname for him . After a while of thinking, she let her arms down and looked at him dejectedly . "I can't think of anything . "

Rong Jian's face brightened up, as if waiting for her to say that . "How about hubby?" He suggested enthusiastically .

Without a moment of hesitation or any warning, Shen Tianyu's hand slapped across his face . "Idiot!" She spat . "I shouldn't have asked you!" She then went back to thinking .

Rong Jian held his cheek that now had a five fingered hand print on it with an aggrieved face and whined to her but she didn't show any indication of hearing him . She completely ignored him and blocked his voice from her head so it was more or less like she never heard him .

Xue Lang put his paws over his eyes and laid it's head next to the Ice Crystal Shen Tianyu had put on the ground earlier with flattened ears . [These two . . . What are they doing?] He bemoaned in embarra.s.sment at the two . Though he could be considered a hermit, he wasn't ignorant to how human relations between couples were . If an outsider saw this scene, what would they think?! If someone said they were a couple, it obviously looked wrong . How could a man be so subservient to a woman?! There are so many women in the world, if she was ignoring him, he should just let it go or his manliness would be called into question . Shen Tianyu obviously heard his thoughts but didn't show any indication of it .

After another half an incense stick of this scene, Shen Tianyu put her hands down again with a serious face . Seeing her face, Rong Jian also quieted down . "How about . . . Jian Lang?" She had initially wanted to call him Si Lang(3) because it sounded deadly in her opinion . But four was an unlucky number so she didn't want to curse him with bad luck . It would also be troublesome if other people thought she was, even if he was okay with it . So she threw that idea away . She ended up copying him and used his given name to make a nickname .

Though the nickname didn't sound like anything special, Rong Jian showed a delighted expression . "Alright!" He enthusiastically agreed . Now, he didn't have to feel inferior to that stupid Snow Wolf . Hopefully, in the future, she won't name other spiritual beasts like that . Even better if she could change that Snow Wolf's nickname so he didn't have to feel like they were similar even though they weren't . He didn't want to feel like he was sharing his wife, even if the other party was just a contract beast .

With that settled, the couple and third wheel wolf went back to cultivating .
